Amity's hands glided slowly over the car door handle and then dug into it, opening it quickly and shutting once she was inside. Luz turned to look at her, something shimmering in her gaze. "So where do you want to go, Blight?"

She felt the small fingers of the creature wrap around her mind and send it's array of signals toward her leg, making it shake. She stared blankly at it before forcing it to stop and looking back with a worried glance. "I have no clue," she had to force herself to hold onto the car door as she spoke, "I don't even know what I'm doing."

She felt the tightness in her chest increase along with the volume of her breathing, the shaking sensation continued and the face of her frenemy turned into a blob of shaky lines. She felt warm hands on her arm. "Amity? Shh, it's alright."

"Sorry." She blinked. "I've never skipped school before.."

"I got that. It's alright. Just focus on me, okay?" She paused, as though debating whether to say something. "Here," a hand extended her way, "hold my hand. It will ground you."

She smiled gratefully as the feeling began to dissipate slowly. "Thank you."

"So where would you want to go?"

"I still don't know," she said as she glanced away, the hand she was holding making her too aware of her body language. "Somewhere fun?"

Luz chuckled, as she retracted her hand and pressed the gear into drive. "I know just the place."

After a lengthy drive, the brunette pulled into the parking lot of a store. It seemed to be the equivalent of a convenience store but with brighter colors- purple and yellow decorated every inch of the outside walls, graffiti lined the bricks in a purposeful way and a shimmering sign read 'Twenty Four Hours' and under it, the accompanying name.

"Welcome to Frostie's foods," said Luz as she pulled her hand away from the driving wheel, the other still connected to the girl. "I know it's not super special but it's my favorite place to relax and think."

Despite herself, Amity felt the corner of her mouth tug upwards. "I can't say the name is creative."

Luz laughed quietly. "Is that all you have to say, Miss Queen Bee?"

"For now."

Luz shook her fluffy hair and opened the car door, Amity following suit. In minutes they had reached the inside of the old store. It wasn't very different from the outside, except smack in the middle was a big giant machine that provided slushees. A giant polar bear spinning at the top.

The clerk behind the counter smiled. "Hello, Luzecita! Long time no see." She spoke with a slight accent, a twinkle in her eyes as she tucked a strand of caramel hair behind her. Amity felt herself shifting as she observed their interaction. The clerk's hair complimented her tanned skin and her honey-gold eyes. There was an air of kindness surrounding her. "Quien es tu amigita?"

Luz coughed into her hand. "Miria, you remember Amity, the girl I told you about?"

"Ah sí," she nodded as she wiped down whatever invisible crumbs were in the snack bar's counter as she continued, "the one you wa—"
