Amity's heart thumped, thumped, vibrating anxiously as she watched her wife run into the oncoming traffic after their children.

Erwina's beautifully crafted gold necklace— gift from her aunt and uncle— had fallen onto the street. Amity continued to yell in panic as she watched their little boy, Ali, run after them.

But she was helpless. So very helpless as she felt the world slow to a stop, the imminent danger of the cars being greater than anything else. She couldn't stop it. What good would it do if she ran into traffic too? None. Absolutely none...

But her wife and her children. They were going to get run over. They were going to get injured on New Year's Eve. She felt the tears pouring as she continued to yell, making herself hoarse. "ALI PLEASE. LUZ. ERWINA."

"ANYBODY..Please..," She whimpered, helpless and she debated running onto the incoming traffic herself.

People on the street stopped and stared but it wasn't until a nice old lady came up to her. She had green hair, golden eyes alike to herself. For a split second she felt as though she were seeing her mother.

The lady didn't have much by the looks of it. Her clothes were tattered and torn, eyes drooped in a way that only horrible things would do to you. "My girl, it's okay. Just breathe." She touched Amity's shoulder, sending shivers down her spin at the touch of a mother that she had missed growing up. "Breathe with me," she demonstrated, "one...two...three. There you go. There you are."

She suddenly stopped, staring past the girl's shoulder. "You must be the wife?"

Amity felt the warmth, the squeezing pressure of a hug so full of love that the pleasure seemed to be immeasurable. "Luz..oh Luz. Erwina, Ali?"

Both kids ran to her side, hugging each of her legs. "Who..who are you?" She asked the random lady.

The woman shook her head. "Enjoy your time with your family, my dear, they are the greatest thing to ever happen. Don't lose sight of that."

Amity nodded as her wife and kids began to walk away with her, "Thank you."

The lady nodded, waving goodbye.

"Thank you too, Amity..My daughter. How stupid was I," sighed Odalia as her daughter and her family were too far away to hear what she had muttered under her breath.
