The following day, y/n was eating breakfast with her dad before school.

"So, have you made any friends?" Her dad asked.

"Hmm... yes and no."

"What does that mean?"

"I made a friend, but he's not from school."

"..."

"..."

"Y/n, what the hell does that mean? Are you doing some shady shit?"

"No, dad!"

He sighed. "I can only hope so. You're only in high school after all. You should be making friends your age."

Her dad wasn't wrong. She knew that he only wanted to keep her safe.

Y/n tried to give her dad the most reassuring smile she could give. "Don't worry about it. He's not 'shady' at all."

He smiled back before standing up and grabbing- y/n's dishes as well as his own to place in the sink. "I have to go to work now." He patted his daughter's head while walking past her. "Be good in school, okay? Love you."

"Love you too. See you later."

Ring!

The school bell rang, signifying lunch time.

Y/n looked around to see her classmates rising from their seats and leaving the classroom, the chatter dying down.

She ate a big breakfast this morning and wasn't really in the mood to eat. Instead, y/n laid her head down on the desk and looked to the side. She watched the sheer curtains dance softly against the faint trail of wind blowing in from the open window.

Suddenly, y/n thought she could feel a hand touch her hair and play with it. She slowly blinked once and there a familiar figure stood in front of her. One bringing back bittersweet memories.

"You sleepyhead." Oikawa giggled.

Y/n leaned into the touch and closed her eyes, but the warmth of his hand already started to fade away.

She opened her eyes again to see nobody standing there. Feeling those damned tears well up in her eyes again, she sat up and leaned her head back as far as she could, refusing to let a single droplet roll down.

Y/n couldn't tell how long she had her head hung, but it was probably way too long by the way her head was starting to pound.

She whipped her head down and clutched her throbbing forehead. "Ugh. I should go the nurse's office." She mumbled.

Y/n packed up her belongings and slowly made her way to the nurse's office. Upon arrival, she talked to the nurse and was given medicine and a bottle of water. After, she laid on the one of the beds there. It definitely wasn't the most comfortable, but it was better than nothing.

Somehow, she fell asleep.

Y/n was awoken by the same nurse from earlier. She was tapping her arm. "School is over. Would you like me to call your parent and have them pick you up?"

School was over? How long had she been out?

"He can't pick me up. Is it ok I rest a little more before I go home?"

"Ah... well. There won't be anyone here, if that's alright with you." The nurse replied hesitantly.

"That's fine." Y/n gave her a weak smile.

"Okay then. Get home safely." The nurse gave y/n a small smile and exited, closing the door behind her.

Y/n wasn't planning on sleeping some more. She just didn't feel like moving yet. She shifted to lay on her back and stared at the ceiling. Her head was still throbbing, but it wasn't as intense as before.
