Y/n sniffled.

For the past two hours, she'd done nothing but cry so much to the point where she couldn't smell or taste. Her eyes were puffy and she sounded so congested-- you'd think she was sick with a cold or something.

She hated feeling this way. Hated the fact that she moved districts to be away from him, and yet, deep down, kept locked away and hidden, was the hidden desire to see him.

After a swift and sudden decision to stop being curled up and mournful in bed like this, she weakly got up and made way to the bathroom. Getting a good look at her face, the sight surely not pleasant, she splashed cold water on her face-- furnishing a refreshing feeling.

Staring at her ugly, red, and puffy post-crying face in the mirror for about five minutes, her heart pounded in her chest when she suddenly realized she had forgotten about what she was originally doing, prior to that whole ordeal.

She ran to her phone which was still in her bag, on the couch. Turning it on, she was met with several messages from Akiteru.

Hey! You're coming soon right?

We'll be here :)

Y/n?

Not coming anymore?

Everything good?

"Oh shit." She thought. How rude of her to go and let Akiteru worry like that. She opened up the keyboard, and started typing out her apology when a sudden ringing of the doorbell sounded throughout the house.

"Is that Dad?"  Y/n walked towards the door, going to open it. "Why didn't he just use the ke-"

She swung the door open and well. That was definitely not her father.

Rather, she was met by a certain blondie. That blondie blinked at her with a long face, maybe in response to seeing her, well... ugly, red, and puffy post-crying face.

Why... of all people was Tsukishima here?

"What...are you doing here?" Y/n questioned cautiously.

"Jeez." He muttered. "Did you catch a bad cold?"

Y/n nearly slammed the door shut in front of his face right then and there. She wish she had.

"I asked what you're doing here."

Tsukishima let out a sigh. "My brother thought you died or something. Weren't you coming over to my house? Why didn't you respond to his texts?"

Y/n rolled her eyes at the bombardment of questions, but she knew she at least owed Akiteru an explanation. "Yes. I happened to feel really ill as I made my way there so I decided to come back home but as soon as I got here, I knocked out and forgot to tell your brother."

"You felt ill while walking there? What a strange way to get sick."

"I-"

Before y/n could even get a word out, a bright headlight turned the corner, as she saw from behind Tsukishima, who still stood outside the house. Her dad was home. What great timing.

"Have you eaten dinner?" She looked back at the blonde.

"Yes."

"Prepare to have two meals. Cause my dad won't be seeing some guy he's never met leave this house without meeting him."

Y/n grabbed the taller one's wrist, pulling him inside the house.

Before Tsukishima could even object, her dad appeared in front of the already open door. His gaze immediately shot to the wrist being clutched by his daughter's own hand.

"Y/n, who is this?" Her dad slightly raised an eyebrow.

"Dad, this is Tsukishima. Tsukishima, this is my dad."

"Hello there..."

"Hi." The blonde bowed.

"Well, Tsukishima, would you like to have some dinner with us?"

"That's quite alr-" Y/n had squeezed his wrist tightly, as if threatening him. His hand had gone limp. "Yes please."

"Wonderful." Her dad smiled with closed eyes. "It'll be some time before the food's ready, make yourself feel at home."

Tsukishima forced himself to nod, deciding not to object because of the foreboding death grip the other had on his wrist. He was then dragged along to a room, her own room he assumed. She closed the door behind them then turned to him.

"What now." Y/n furrowed her brows as if she was deep in thought.

"What now?" Tsukishima spoke. "How about you let me go home?"

"You can't." She replied with a degree of determination in her voice. "If you were to leave right now, I would be in trouble."

"How so?"

"You happened to come over when no one was home. If you left while he was pulling into the neighborhood and caught you, he would question me all day and night about having a boy over with no one else home."

"But I didn't even step a foot into your house."

"It would still look like you were coming from here! Blame this situation on your terrible timing."

Tsukishima let out a sigh and pushed up his black frames. "Alright I get it. Can you let go of me now?"

Y/n looked down to see his wrist still held on to by her own hand. Rather tightly. She quickly let go, before he could notice the way her hand started to get sweaty.

"My bad." Y/n walked past the blonde to sit on her bed. Once seated, she skeptically looked at the way he just stood there, leaning his back against the wall with his eyes closed and arms crossed. "You can sit down, you know."

Tsukishima cleared his throat and opened his eyes. He quickly scanned the room once to see no other sitting spot than her bed, or that is... the floor. It was quite the swift decision to choose the latter. He plopped down from where he stood.

Y/n rolled her eyes at his reluctance to accept her hospitality.

"Wait a second." He suddenly shot a look in her direction. "I'm going to catch your cold. Open the windo-"

"Oh be quiet. I'm not sick."

"..."

"..."

"You just told me you were sick."

"I'm not. Just tell your brother that I am."

"I don't believe you. You sound super congested."

"..."

"Hm." He put a hand on his chin. "Or maybe you were crying?"

Y/n pursed her lips and tried to ignore the way her heart rate started to speed up. She was not about to explain her reason for crying to Tsukishima, of all people. "That's none of your business."

"It is though."

"How?"

He rolled his eyes. "I came here to check up on you."

Y/n once again fought to ignore the way her heart pounded in her chest. "No. Your brother asked you to."

"I could've said no."

Her eyes widened and she quickly averted her gaze to her lap. It had gone silent.

"Were you worried about me?" She asked meant to ask teasingly but her tone ended up coming out a little more serious than she had expected.

"..."

"Is there something wrong with that?" He replied almost quietly while looking away. Y/n barely noticed the way his cheeks went slightly pink.

Y/n tried to shy away her smile.

"Now will you tell me what happened?"

"Guys! Come down to eat!"

Y/n had felt a huge weight lifted off her chest as she heard her dad call them. "Thank god."

"Come on. Let's eat." She smiled to Tsukishima.
