On the holiday week, that was the first time I saw Megan in ages. She and her roommate/best friend Elizabeth were coming home too this time.

Only Jake came to pick us up, because "Unfortunately my darling boyfriend forgot he was meant to come get you and already told our lovely boss he'd over one of our coworker's shifts."

"Well at least I can sit up here with you," I pointed out, smiling from my place in the passenger seat where T usually sat. I was no longer in the backseat.

J whooped and high fived me with his free hand.

"So, they're best friends?" I heard Elizabeth ask Megan in the back.

"Yeah, have been since T started dating him," Meg replied.

"They're adorable."

"Sometimes annoying, but yeah, mostly adorable."

"We can hear you," Jake said, glaring into the rear view mirror.

"Don't care," Megan glared back, but she smirked. Elizabeth laughed and I rolled my eyes.

It was like we were back to normal already.

At home, Mom revelled in the fact she had both of her darling daughters home again.

"Nice to meet you, Elizabeth," she had said to Meg's new best friend.

"Just Liz is fine, it's nice to meet you too."

When Trent got home, he apologised to me for forgetting what today was for.

"I would have came, but I didn't want to let anyone down and I've missed you so much!"

"Awe, I've missed you too," I said as we hugged, tightly.

"God, you three, with your weird bond thingy," Megan commented.

"Don't be jealous, future sister-in-law," Jake replied instantly.

Which meant the future sister-in-law was left raging, while Liz simply laughed it off.

"Why can't you control them?" Megan asked me later that evening.

"Oh I'm sorry, but he's your brother, your TWIN brother," I pointed out.

She groaned. "Jake's your best friend."

"Yes, BEST FRIEND! As in he's NOT A DOG OR A ROBOT! I'm not ordering my best friend and my- sorry, OUR- brother to do anything just because I'm closer to them."

"Ugh, see this is exactly why I am giving Dad a second chance. Because the three of you, you're always leaving me out."

"You left yourself out, we tried getting you to join us but you kept saying you were busy, or it looked stupid, or you had something better to do," I snapped back.

Megan didn't say anything for a moment.

"You know, sometimes, I wish Dad had taken me with him when he left. Clearly I shouldn't be here at all," she said, before walking away.

And yes, I realise what a gigantic bitch I am for this, but I didn't go after her.

For the rest of the week I hung out with Trent and Jake, ignoring when Megan would randomly leave the house and come back hours later.

Mom could see we were falling apart, she tried to fix it but nothing worked and she gave up two days after.
