When Megan got home, we all had to sit down at the table for the big confrontation my sister had been dreading since Mom came to see her in hospital.

"Don't tell me, you're going to say I shouldn't drink that much from now on and then I can go back to college and we can forget all about this?"

Mom laughed. "You wish. You're not drinking at all anymore, and you're coming back home so I can keep a closer eye on you."

"What!? That's completely ridiculous!"

"It's perfectly reasonable to want to look after my children!"

"Sorry, I'm on Mom's side," Trent commented.

"Sanders Sides," I muttered, and T burst out laughing.

Even Mom smiled.

"Ugh, but she can go back? Honestly she's just wasting her time writing lesbian fiction," Megan complained.

"Objection," Trent and I said in unison.

"Agreed," Mom replied. "Your sister doesn't land herself in hospital, and apparently she has a very nice girlfriend. She also works very hard."

Meg turned her attention to me. "When did you get a girlfriend."

I glared at my mom and while I was at it, my snickering brother who also got a punch in the arm.

"None of your business, this is your intervention."

Mom cleared her throat. "She's right. Megan, you're not going back to school tomorrow. Isa, you can go back if you want."

"What!? You're basically just going to hold your own daughter hostage in this house!?" Megan screamed.

"Keep talking like that and you'll never be going back to that school," our mother shot back and her tone was so serious and final Megan was wise enough to not whisper another word.

Instead she got up, and stormed upstairs to her room.

Ten seconds after that we could hear screaming, swearing and possibly things being broken.

Mom sighed, loud and long, before rising out of her chair and going up there too.

Trent and I took one look at each other and burst out laughing.

The next day I went back, and I found Alice.

She was very happy to see me, and I was very happy to see her.

I asked her if she was my girlfriend now, and she said she hoped so.

That little moment Porsche did see.
