Chapter 15: A heck of a long walk

Back at the town, they all hear the truck's alarm in the distance, meaning that the Graboids triggered it, and that could mean one thing for them.

Heather on radio: Val, everyone, you're gonna have to forget about the truck.

Everyone groans at that. 

Val: Yeah, we got you, Heather. 

Cole: Well, that licks us. We're done for. 

Rhonda: Now, look. The situation hasn't changed. We still have to make it to solid rock. There's gotta be some way. 

Val: Like what? There's nothing left that can make it to those mountains. 

Just then, the store shakes again, knocking down part of the roof. Everyone holds on. 

Miguel: Hey, Val. Quiet, man. 

Earl: It doesn't matter now. They know we're here. 

Sora: Man. There's gotta be something we can do!

Val: Oh, shoot! We need a helicopter is what we need. Or a goshdang tank! 

Earl: Wait a minute. Wait a minute. The Cat! Could we take the Cat? 

Val: Oh, jeez. It's slower than heck. 

Earl: Yeah, but it weighs better than 30 tons. There's no way they could lift 30 tons. Could they? I mean...

Miguel: But we can't all fit on the bulldozer. 

Danny: He's right. It will only three or four. 

Val: (Thinks) No. No, but we could drag something, though. We could pull a car behind it. I don't know. 

Earl: Heck, that old semitrailer. 

They all walk over to where they can see the Cat, and the semitrailer. 

Val: Its tires are flat.

Earl: Doesn't matter. That Cat can pull anything. 

Val: Well, alright. We just roll on out of here. 

Earl: We've got a plan! 

They both give each other a high five. 

Momo: Yeah, except one problem. It's way over there.

She points at, and they see that it's on the edge of town, with the semitrailer. 

Earl: Of course, that's a heck of a long walk. 

Ren: Yeah, we know.

Roxas: The minute we start stomping out there, they're gonna be on us before we can get to the Cat.

Rhonda: Listen, they only respond to vibration, right? Well, couldn't we distract them somehow? 

Val: Yeah. Good. Something to keep them busy, like a decoy. 

Yang and Nora look at each other, with smirks on their faces. They both turn around, and look at Melvin. 

Yang: Hey, Melvin! You wanna make a buck for us? 

Mlevin: (Flips her) Eat it! 

Winter: Wait! Guys, we got our dragon monsters! Remember, they can fly! 

The heroes suddenly remember that. Their dragons can fly, and these worms can't. Val and Earl look at them. 

Earl: She's right. What do you think?

Suddenly, the store shakes again, making a rumbling noise again. Everyone falls down. Suddenly, they hear Danny scream. They all look, and see him falling over the ledge.

All: Sheriff! 

He falls, and lands on the ground. He gasps, and gets up. He looks around, and remains still. Everyone all looks down, and see him. 

Cole: Oh, jeez! Sheriff, don't move! 

Danny takes out his pistol, and cocks it. He continues looking around as he stays still. 

Val: Sheriff! Sheriff!

Danny keeps his gun aimed around the place. He hears it, but doesn't see it. Then suddenly, he feels something underneath him. He slowly looks down, and sees the dirt shaking. He realizes what's about to happen. He looks at everyone, and sighs. 

Danny: Well, freaking figures.

Just then, Dungeon Worm shoots out of the ground under Danny. He screams as it has him in its mouth. He chows down on him. He screams in agony as he coughs up blood. He drops his pistol as it shakes him around. Everyone looks in shock as they see this worm. This one is different than the other ones. It's much dangerous, and bigger. They all watch in horror as it has Danny in its mouth. He continues screaming in agony as he struggles to get out. It sinks back down into the ground, taking him with it. It disappears into the dirt. 

Kairi: Oh, gosh...

Cole: Sheriff...

Earl: Goshdang it!

Weiss: Did you see that thing? It was huge, but it was different. 

Donald: (Whispers to them) Must be another one of Maleficent's monsters. She probably sent that one to deal with us. 

Goofy: Yeah. Looks like we're gonna have to deal with that too. 

Val: Yeah. And ground's getting closer, Earl.

Earl: Yeah. 

Val: I say we go with our friends' plan. 

Sora nods at that. They're gonna have to do this one carefully. This worm might leap out of the ground higher and catch one of their dragons in the air. But they need to save the surviving town locals before more people die.
