You walk nonchalantly down the street of some random village, hands buried deep in the pockets of your pants. You ignore the curious and apprehensive stares of the strangers around you as you only have one thing on your mind- finding some daifuku. The treat has been calling your name for quite some time now yet everywhere you've looked has been sold out or just didn't have it in general. Your hope is dwindling but you're determined to find some.

Turning the corner, you step to the side just as a ranting boy appears with two others. He stops his previous conversation about his sisters beauty in order to apologize for almost running into you, only to freeze up as he looks at your partially covered face. While the blindfold is strange, what's even more confusing is that you're not giving off a scent of any kind.

Snapping out of it, he bows a full ninety degrees. "I'm so sorry! I should've been watching where I was going!"

"That's alright." You smile as you shrug. "Not like you actually bumped into me or anything. No harm done."

You look past him to the two people accompanying him. Interestingly enough, they both appear to be demons. The girl looks as if she's dozing off, eyes closed and head bobbing while the male is glaring at you as if you're some disgusting vermin. It's amusing, really. Though, you are curious as to why a human is with two demons. It's obvious he knows what they are as well considering his outfit and his nichirin blade attached to his hip.

"I'm still very sorry!" The boy stands up from his unnecessary bow. "Even if I didn't run into you, I still should've been more aware of my surroundings. It won't happen again!"

You let out a soft laugh as you shake your head in amusement. "Alright, then. How about this- I'll accept your apology if you buy me some daifuku!"

"Daifuku?" He tilts his head curiously before perking up. "If that's what it takes then sure!"

Without second thought he grabs your hand, you allowing him to do so, before dragging you and the other girl whose hand he was already holding towards the brighter parts of the village where many shops and stalls are. The other boy grumbles to himself as he follows after reluctantly, obviously not wanting to get dragged around.

As he leads you through the brightly lit streets your nose scrunches up slightly at a potent scent wafting in the air. While it's obviously not from an incredibly recent incident, the blood still smells quite strong. You've always hated the metallic scent of blood. Perhaps that's why you've still consumed human food in your nearly five hundred years of life. Not once have you ever consumed a person and it will stay that way for as long as you live.

Forcing yourself to ignore the gross scent, you continue to follow the boy who has yet to introduce himself. He seems overly focused on finding the daifuku you requested even though you really only asked for it so you didn't have to find it yourself. It's kind of cute how determined he is to earn your forgiveness. Though, you honestly believe there's nothing to forgive him for. However, you will never turn down free food, especially your favorite.

"Ah!" He suddenly gasps in excitement, pulling you even faster. In just a few short seconds you're all standing in front of a stall that specializes in a variety of daifuku. He releases yours and the other girls hands as he speaks to the vendor, ordering far more daifuku than needed. He orders multiple pieces of each flavor which is enough to fill two wooden bentos. Handing over the money, he bows his head in thanks before handing you the boxes.

Smiling brightly, you accept them before reaching up to pat his head. "Thank you very much! I've been craving daifuku for weeks!"

His cheeks flush pink as he stutters for a second before smiling in return. "I hope you enjoy them! It was nice meeting you but we have to go now. Have a nice night!"

You watch as the group takes their leave, the demon boy berating the daifuku boy for wasting time on a stranger. Once they're out of sight your smile drops, head turning to look in the direction of where you smelled the blood. You breeze through the crowd as you make your way towards the darkened alleyway where the scent is at its strongest.

You're not surprised when you find blood splattered everywhere, though the bodies from which it came are missing from the scene. Crouching, you examine the blood, finding it to be in the stages of drying up. Whoever died here did so not that long ago- a few hours at most. It happened before you arrived, at the very least.

Sighing, you return to your standing position, one hand resting in your pocket while the other holds your bentos as you exit the alley. Walking in a random direction, you whistle a little tune to entertain yourself. People stare as you pass once again though you pay them no mind. You're more interested in getting home so you can eat your daifuku. Granted, you could simply teleport home but what's the fun in that?

Your whistling dies down as you pause at the end of an empty road. You're easily able to hear what appears to be something jingling along with the sounds of destruction. Breathing deeply, you take in the scents around you. The three scents from earlier invade your senses along with one familiar one you haven't encountered in a long while. There's also two new ones, both of which belong to demons.

Looks like your new friends are having fun without you and that's simply not acceptable.
