Limitless (KNY X Reader)

Four

Tanjiro traveled for quite some time despite being injured. As much as you wanted to tell him to stop and get some rest you couldn't due to being confined in the tiny realm. With the sun high in the sky there's no chance of you coming out any time soon. You'll either have to wait until he stops to find a place to stay or until the sun sets and the moon rises.

Your daifuku is long gone and patience practically nonexistent when something interesting finally happens. You hear someone screeching, tearfully begging someone to marry them as they're going to die soon. Thankfully, the little realm muffles voices just enough for the screaming to not shatter your ears.

You watch with mild interest as a small sparrow approaches Tanjiro, chirping wildly. Tanjiro listens to the birds incessant tweets before nodding in understanding. After that he approaches the sobbing boy, grabbing him by the back of his haori as he roughly pulls him away from a random girl.

"What're you doing in the middle of the road?! Can't you see that this girl doesn't like it?! And quit upsetting sparrows!" Tanjiro scolds the boy who stares at him in shock.

"Wait!" The yellow boy screeches. "That a corps uniform! You were at the final selection!"

"I don't know anyone like you! Trust me!" Tanjiro instantly shuts the boy down.

This, of course, only upsets him further. "Huh?! But we've met! We've met! The problem is your memory!"

Tanjiro completely ignores him as he approaches the girl, telling her that things are fine and she's free to return home. Yellow boy refuses this, claiming the girl likes him and is going to marry him only to result in him being slapped. You can't help but to burst into laughter as she continuously beats on him as he cries while Tanjiro tries to pull her away.

When the girl finally leaves he whirls around angrily at Tanjiro only to be met with a face of disgust. "Why do you interfere? And why are you looking at me like that?! Why are you staring at me like I'm some pitiful creature?! Stop it! I hold you responsible for this! It's your fault I'm not getting married! Say something! I'm gonna die soon... on my next job! I'm incredibly weak so give me a break! Protect me until I get married!"

Tanjiro slaps a hand to his chest which unfortunately covers your view. "Let's start with introductions. My name is Kamado Tanjiro!"

"My name is Agatsuma Zenitsu! Help me Tanjiro!"

Tanjiro questions his need for help since he's a swordsman before asking why he's such a weakling. Unfortunately, this makes Zenitsu launch into a sob story about being conned by some woman before being taken in by an old man who forced him to train. He claims to have thought he'd die at final selection but didn't so now he has to live in hell everyday. As he continues crying, Tanjiro pats his back as he gives him comforting words.

After a while they finally calm down, the both of them starting to travel together. Tanjiro gave Zenitsu his only rice ball which made you realize just how hungry you are. You eat far more than a normal human would, so you get hungry quite quickly. You finished your daifuku long ago and sadly have nothing else to eat. It's truly a saddening situation.

They eventually arrive at their destination- a creepy house in the middle of nowhere on a mountain. Even within the necklace you can sense the horrible aura radiating from the building along with a strong scent of blood. It's easy to tell that there's at least three demons within the house though they don't seem all that strong. That might just be you, though. Nobody ever seems strong to you.

Tanjiro turns away from the building to look off to the side where he spots two young children standing while holding each other. He approaches them, questioning what they're doing there. Upon receiving no answer he pulls Zenitsu's bird out who proceeds to hop on his hand. Both of the children collapse to their knees after, bursting into tears.

"Did something happen here? Is that your house?" Tanjiro gently questions them.

"No..." The boy stutters from fear. "It's a house of monsters! It took my older brother! We were out walking at night and without even looking at us, it took my brother!"

"So he's in that house?" The boy confirms. "And you two followed? Wow, I'm impressed!"

"He was hurt so we followed his spilled blood." You frown, knowing it likely wasn't easy for them to do such a thing.

Tanjiro tries his best to reassure them, letting them know him and Zenitsu will beat the bad guy and save their brother. Zenitsu cuts in as he calls out to Tanjiro, talking about a strange sound within the house that won't stop. Seconds later a body flies from the second story before landing harshly on the ground.

Tanjiro is quick to tell the children not to look before running over to the heavily bleeding boy. He holds him in a tight hug as he takes his last breath before gently laying him down to be buried later on. With that, he tells Zenitsu to come along before asking the children to watch after the box containing Nezuko.

Tanjiro then enters the house with Zenitsu following closely behind despite his fears.
