It's been a few days since Mitsuri's visit. The two of you talked for hours, and in the end before leaving she gave you permission to refer to her by her first name to show your new friendship. She had already been calling you by yours but that's just because your last name was never stated. You don't mind either way. Honorifics and such are silly in your opinion. You shouldn't have to call someone a certain way to show respect.

Currently, you're sitting in a room watching as Tanjiro and Inosuke work on their rehabilitation training. They started the day Mitsuri visited so you didn't get to watch them then, which is why you've decided to watch today. Being injured for so long has certainly taken its toll on both boys as they both struggle with every part of the training. From stretching all the way to tag they both fail to succeed against the girls.

It's honestly quite amusing. Watching Inosuke get folded into painful positions by three much smaller girls while he grunts and cries at the pain. Tanjiro getting cup after cup of gross medicine thrown in his face. Both of them flailing around the room in attempts to tag their opponent. One wouldn't think of these things as helpful training techniques but they definitely help with flexibility, agility, speed, stamina, and reflexes. They may seem like simple games but they're actually great for honing your skills. It's safe to assume this is how Kanao trained to get as fast and agile as she is.

It continues on like this for a few days until it's eventually time for Zenitsu to join, finally having healed enough to be active again. When he walks into the room, his scared mood instantly sours, and you quirk a brow as he demands Inosuke and Tanjiro speak to him outside. You, of course, silently follow after so you can eavesdrop. You're not surprised when he starts yelling at them about how they acted like they were in hell when in reality they were in heaven since they were being touched by the girls.

Clearing your throat, you draw their attention towards you. "You know, I feel like it's wrong to propose to a girl just to turn around and fawn over others."

"(Y/N)?" Tanjiro looks at you in surprise and you realize they had yet to discover you can be out in the sun.

"Wait! I'm sorry!" Zenitsu doesn't seem to notice the oddity as he flings himself to the ground at your feet, desperately clutching at your kimono. "I promise to never look at another girl again! You're the only girl for me! Please don't let my mistake sway your decision to marry me!"

You can't help but to laugh at his desperation. "Ah, Zenitsu. You really are something special."

The boy looks to be in sweet bliss, swaying side to side as imaginary flowers swirl around his head. "She called me special!"

"What are you doing out here?" Tanjiro questions, ignoring Zenitsu's strange actions.

"I was curious as to what you guys were talking about." You shrug. "You guys should probably head back inside before Aoi gets mad, though."

Your words send Inosuke and Tanjiro into a panic as they grab Zenitsu and bolt back inside with you following behind. It seems your words broke Zenitsu as he doesn't snap out of his bliss filled haze even when he's being bent in every shape and as nasty smelling medicine is thrown in his face. The second training is done he's by your side, looking happy as ever despite being sticky and gross from having liquid thrown on him multiple times.

"Is he going to be like this all day?" You mumble to Tanjiro as he too comes to stand with you.

Tanjiro chuckles nervously. "I hope not."

"Quit acting weird!" Inosuke snaps, slamming his fist on top of Zenitsu's head which thankfully works, forcing him out of his blissful state.

"Why'd you hit me?!" Zenitsu screeches, holding the top of his now aching head.

"You were being dumb!" Inosuke points accusingly at him.

"I was not!" Zenitsu defends as he and Inosuke begin arguing back and forth.

You chuckle, watching the two of them in amusement. You're glad that they're beginning to act normal again. Ever since the mountain, the two of them have been rather depressed. You know Inosuke was upset about his devastating loss to the spider dad as it made him realize he isn't as strong as he thought. And Zenitsu was depressed because he was nearly turned into a spider which made his body all weird, forcing him to take disgusting medicine in order for it to return to normal. He was probably also upset about going through such a bad experience by himself.

Tanjiro seemed the least upset out of the trio. Even though he felt bad for Rui, the lower moon he had to fight, he still got over it rather quickly. He was pretty injured as well and being abused at the trial by the Hashira certainly didn't help. Yet, he remains positive, always trying his best to help the others feel better. It's admirable, really. Being able to stay positive all the time despite the constant horrible things he has to go through. You may act happy all the time but even you struggle sometimes. Living for so long and losing so many people makes it difficult to look at the bright side of things.

You only hope Tanjiro never loses his light.

🌌 The girls were a bit embarrassed having you watching them train the boys but they still tried their hardest
