Twenty-Seven

Exiting the Wisteria House, Uzui instantly forces you to link arms with him as all of you begin to walk further into the Entertainment District. Tanjiro and Zenitsu walk behind you, Zenitsu openly glaring at Uzui while Tanjiro tries his best not to. Inosuke, on the other hand, is more interested in looking around the district. As you walk, you can feel countless eyes watching you, curious as to who you are. Your beauty rivals that of an Oiran yet it's obvious you're not one.

Ignoring the stares, you approach one of the target houses with Uzui. As the two owners of the house kneel in the doorway Uzui presents the three boys dressed as girls, newly named Inoko, Zenko, and Sumiko. The man of the house hesitates as he claims to have just taken in some new help, but the woman claims they could take at least two. She offers to take Sumiko but then after that she hesitates slightly. You can tell that she's scared to say who she is interested in purchasing.

There's a good chance Uzui was planning to sell you to a different house but you step forward, bowing politely. "I would be honored if the house Tokito took me as well."

Uzui lets out a sound of shock, likely wanting to protest. However, the owners of the house hand over a large sum of money- offering nearly triple what they payed for Tanjiro. That's all it takes to make him shut up and smile as he thanks them for taking the two of you in. You say goodbye to the others before entering the house alongside Sumiko- it might take you a bit of time to get used to calling him that.

Almost instantly the two of you are put to work. Sumiko is given basic chores to do such as cleaning and folding laundry while you're taken to train to entertain guests. They don't plan to replace Koinatsu as Oiran but they know that you will bring in a lot of customers with your beauty. They just have to make sure you know what to do with guests before they start offering you to the public.

It's quite boring, in all honesty. Being taught how to be a proper and poised young woman drains a lot of your energy. You just want to stuff your face and relax but they barely allow you to eat anything. It's 'impolite' and 'unladylike' to eat a lot of food. You're glad that it will only last for a few days until Uzui's wives are found and the demon slayed. You could make it go by faster by doing everything yourself but the boys will never get stronger if you do everything.

"(Y/N)? Why were you sold to house Tokito? Surely you don't have any debts, right?" One of the young girls questions as she delivers your dinner to your room, another girl following her with her arms filled with freshly cleaned bedding.

"No, I have no debts." You shake your head before patting the ground in front of you, offering for the two girls to sit with you to chat a bit. "If I'm being honest, I chose to enter alongside Sumiko so she wouldn't be alone. She's a very honest and naive girl so I wanted to be able to protect her."

"Really?" Both girls question with stars in their eyes.

Chuckling, you nod. "Of course. I've been by her side for a long time now, and I suppose the idea of us being split apart from each other filled me with sorrow. Even if I have to endure things such as entertaining hundreds of customers, I would never choose to part from her."

"You're amazing!" The girl who delivered your bedding states, her voice filled with admiration. The poor thing has no idea that everything you said was basically a lie. While you've been with Tanjiro for nearly a year now, you're still fine with the two of you parting ways since you know it likely wouldn't be for long. After all, he went on plenty of missions without you while you remained at the Butterfly Estate with Kyojuro.

"You girls should run along now. I'm sure you've got more chores to complete before it's time for bed." You usher them out of your room, waiting for the door to close before breathing out a sigh. Acting all prim and proper is tiring. At least now that you're alone you can dig into your food without problem. These few moments alone are your favorite times of the day as you can be completely yourself without anyone watching. You couldn't imagine living here for years on end.

As you eat your mind wanders to the others. Tanjiro was lucky to have you placed in his house so he's not alone. Inosuke and Zenitsu have nobody with them in the houses they were placed in, leaving them completely alone. You can't exactly check on them either so you can only hope that they're doing alright. That they remain safe from whatever took Uzui's wives.

Hopefully this mission ends quickly so you can all return home together where you can be yourselves again.
