🟠 In Ancient Greece, thyme was used as incense and burned in temples. It was also a symbol of courage, so the phrase "the smell of thyme" reflected honour upon a person.

🟠 In Dutch and German folklore, a bed of thyme was home to fairies, and in the Middle Ages, it was placed under the pillow as a sleep aid.

🟠 Medieval ladies offered their chosen knight a scarf bearing an embroidered bee above a sprig of thyme.

🟠 In Germany, thyme was named the Medicinal Plant of the year 2006.
