🟧 During the 19th century, watercress was easily found in the streams of Europe and the United States, and, because it cost nothing, was called "poor man's bread". A bunch of leaves would be rolled into a cone and eaten for breakfast.

🟧 Despite its genus name, watercress is not related to the popular garden plant, nasturtium.
