⚫ The herb is also known as wild pansy, heart's delight, tickle-my-fancy, Jack-jump-up-and-kiss-me, come-and-cuddle-me, three faces in a hood or love-in-idleness. The Anglo-Saxon name was banwort or bonewort.

⚫ The flowers have been used to make yellow, green and blue-green dye's, while the leaves can be used to make a chemical indicator.

⚫ Heartsease appears in Shakespeare's comedy A Midsummer's Night Dream; it is the love charm picked by Puck at Oberon's command that causes a sleeper to become besotted with the first person he/she/they/xe sees upon waking.
