Asim had little to not time to react when the creature roared and pounced from behind him.
His whole body was pushed onto the ground hard as the weight of the creature won against him. Asim grunted as the wind was knocked out from his lungs, trying to rearrange himself again as he twisted his head to look up at what pinned him down. It was a thanator, dark and fierce though smaller and...with native clothings? This confused him momentarily, but it's presence pulled his thoughts away as he focused back on his survival instincts. The thanator snarled at him, showing its sharp frontal teeth as well as its inner ones when the upper lips on both sides of its mouth unfolded to reveal them. Asim grunted and tried to struggle, but the weight of the creature, as well as its six limbs, prevented him from moving his limbs. There was no escape this time it seemed, captured by a Pandoran creature that now had its claws on him.
Now he looked up at the creature, hoping to see the last moments of his life come across his eyes as he stared at the one who would end his life. His eyes stared back straight at his captor's green eyes, hoping to send a message to the creature that he won't back down and continue struggling until death. Some short moments passed that seemed like an eternity as he waited for the end, but...it didn't come. The creature was pinning him, nothing more, looking at him as if examining if this small human would make a decent meal or not. Then it reached back with one of its four arms to take out a bone knife that it had and place it in the back of his neck, as if ready to slice him or say don't move. Whatever the case, this creature was delaying the inevitable, and Asim now tried to look for a way out with this small window.
As he reviewed his options, he managed to inspect the looks and description of the predator that had him pinned down. The creature was a thanator, he could evidently see that, but it was smaller than a regular one and interestingly bigger than a na'vi. It had red native clothing that covered its areas in the chest and in between the legs, wearing what looked like shoulder, elbow, and leg guards made of brown leather as well as some red feathers that protruded from its shoulder armor connected to a chest strap that was adorned with teeth like a necklace. On top of its head laid a pearl-like ornament that strapped some...hair together? It was obvious to Asim that this creature was very different from the rest.
His thoughts of observation were quickly cast aside as the creature growled, and then opened its mouth again to...talk? He clearly heard words that belonged to the na'vi language come out from its mouth as the creature spoke in a smooth yet raspy way. Whatever the creature had said in the native language, it was clearly meant for him alone, though he wasn't interested in what it meant. What really interested him was escaping the clutches of the creature before it changed its mind and ended his life right there and now. At that moment, Asim noticed a chance at escaping when he noticed one of his hands could move.
Picking his knife up that had slipped out from his hand with a swift move, Asim gave the thanator a cut at one of its arms that held him. The creature gave a pained snarl, clutching the cut that Asim gave them and loosened the hold on him. He took this opportunity to free his other hand and land a punch at the side of the thanator's face. The face was tough, as it hurt his hand, and it backed away as it was now dazzled. The hold on the thanator's other arms loosened and Asim quickly slipped away from under the creature, backing away far and quickly before standing up once again. Now from a distance, Asim watched and saw how large and tall the thanator was as it recovered from the punch and stood on two legs. It stood like a na'vi, which now made him realize why it had native clothing.

It was a hybrid, possibly the first one ever seen. And this one was ready to fight again.
Once it recovered it stood tall and gave a roar at Asim, pulling out what looked like it's personal spear from its back and pointing the weapon at him in challenge. It lashed its flat armored tail in fury and the crest plates and quills around its head flared in intimidation while it gave the roar at Asim. He, on the other side of the clearing both were in, flipped his knife expertly in his hands and held it in a defense position. "Bring it!" Asim growled before he quickly ran towards the thanator at full speed. The thanator snarled and threw its spear at him in hopes to impale him, but Asim dodged to the side as the spear flew past him and it embedded itself on the ground. He continued his advance towards the creature, sliding down as it swiped two hands at him to knock him down. Asim swung his knife and gave the thanator's leg a cut, making it snarl in pain. Then he rolled and got up to face it again.
The creature growled as it looked at the wound on its leg and back at Asim, moving into a crouch and then leaping at Asim for a tackle. He leapt to the side and rolled to then stand up and charge at the thanator, aiming his grappling hook and firing to latch on to its arm and reel in for a stab. But the creature caught on quickly and turned around to swipe its clawed hands at him when he got too close. The claws scraped Asim's armor plating, but some found gaps in it and wounded him. He yelled when pain flared across his side, blood starting to leak out as he staggered back and clutched his side. This caused Asim to react late as he saw the thanator turn and swing its large and flat tail around to hit him, sending him backwards and crashing into a tree trunk as the wire of his grappling hook unwrapped form the hold it had on the creature.
Once again it knocked the wind out of Asim as he toppled forwards, and caused more pain as the wounds he had been inflicted with grew worse. His mind told him to hurry and recover as he did his best to quickly get up again. With limbs trembling and body shaking, he rose again to face the thanator with pistol at the ready. Then the creature charged at him again, making Asim aim and fire out the last rounds in the magazine of his pistol. The bullets hit their targets...but seemed to have stuck outside. Then he realized that the creature's hide was thick, and that the bullets only made marks on the black skin before falling off. Which in turn made the thanator even more angrier.
It gave another fierce roar, reaching for its spear once more and now swinging it to slice and jab at him. Asim did his best to dodge it, but by now he felt that his energies were dwindling again. He felt an urge to use something and use it to finish the fight, but before he could actually make his move he saw the blunt end of the spear come around at him and hit him in the head and face. The last thing that he registered was the pain inflicted on him and all of his energies fading away, before he fell to his knees and collapsed onto the ground. The sound around him started to muffle as it became a ringing, blocking out the sound of footsteps as he saw the thanator approach him with spear ready to impale him. And then his vision started to blur.
This was it. This is how his life ended. On another planet, so close to those he considered family. He just hoped his death was quick as he slowly fell into unconsciousness.
