Layontsin hid where she was, unable to move because of the brutality that she has just witnessed.
However, something caught her eyes at the side from where the skypeople were standing alert. A group of na'vi that were silently walking away from the fighting grounds. Some more warriors were starting to emerge from the smoke and confront the skypeople, who in turn went to continue fighting them. Layontsin kept her gaze on the group that was escaping, and then she gasped when she noticed them herding a group of na'vi children. Those children must be the ones stolen from the Anurai clan, and Asim's little sister was definitely amongst them. Making sure she wasn't spotted, Layontsin quickly made her way towards the group that was taking the children away. Once she was near them, the anthro thanator burst from above a large fallen log and pounced on the first Ash clan na'vi, stabbing at them with her knife. The rest of na'vi that were herding the children gave shouts of fear, but immediately went to take their weapons and attack her. "Get away!!" Layontsin ordered the na'vi children as she backed away, making sure they didn't get caught in the fighting as she concentrated on the fighting. She moved her spear and stabbed one of the Ash clan na'vi in the heart, taking it out before swinging it and slicing the other opponent na'vi across their chest. The other two remaining na'vi gave shouts of battle as they charged at the anthro thanator, ready to take on the fight. Layontsin snarled and then roared at them, blocking the spear attack that a na'vi made as she used her own spear. She pushed the na'vi back with great force that they landed hard on the ground. The other na'vi came rubbing to try and impale her with their spear, but Layontsin swung her hand and raked her claws across the na'vi's face to blind them. The na'vi howled in pain as they covered their face and backed away from the anthro thanator. The last na'vi, seeing that their partner had been wounded, got up and charged at Layontsin while holding a knife to stab her.
Layontsin prepared to impale the Ash clan na'vi, but then a small spear came flying out of nowhere and struck the na'vi on the back.
The na'vi fell down on the ground, the spear impaled on their back, and Layontsin looked up at who had thrown the spear. It was another Ash clan na'vi, a young girl, hand outstretched as she has thrown the spear to strike the na'vi. Her eyes were wide, as if it was the first time she had killed someone. Especially her own kind as the young girl's hand shivered and trembled. "Who are you?" Layontsin demanded, snarling and quickly pointing her spear at the na'vi. The na'vi girl whimpered a bit as she took a step back and raised her hands in the air, to show she had no qualms against Layontsin now. "P-please! Hear me! I don't want to harm you, or the children you have come to return to their parents. I-I am Veylu, tsakarem of the Ash clan." The na'vi girl said in a shaky voice, still having her hands raised up and not approaching the anthro thanator. "Why should I believe you, a member of the twisted Ash clan, who is now experiencing their rightful punishment for kidnapping the children?" Layontsin asked, baring her teeth as she lashed her tail in disdain. "It was my mother the tsahik who wanted the children to be...sacrificed for the will of Eywa....But I didn't support her I swear!" Veylu said to Layontsin, still shaking in fear as she stared up at the anthro thanator. Layontsin lowered her spear a small percentage, but still held it in her hands. "I tried to convince my mother to let them go, that these children did not deserve to die because of what happened to my clan in the past. One of them, the skypeople child, spoke na'vi. And I knew that she and the others were innocent. Yet, despite my pleas, she didn't listen to me. They were about to kill the skypeople child first, but...then the other skypeople came from the sky and attacked all of us..." Veylu continued to explain, falling to her knees and beginning to weep.
Layontsin was still angry at Veylu due to her being part of the Ash clan, but seeing the tsakarem express her sadness and her sincere beliefs made the anthro thanator feel some compassion for her. She could tell that Veylu didn't want all of this to continue, the conflict that was started by the evil skypeople and its hatred seeping into the hearts of her people. The tsakarem was different from her mother the tsahik, having let go of that hatred instead of keeping it in and taking the first chance at revenge. Layontsin exhaled a bit and then nodded slightly at Veylu, saying that she understood her thoughts. "I believe you. You do not deserve to be punished along with the rest of your clan." Layontsin said to Veylu, making the tsakarem look up in surprise that the anthro thanator was being merciful to her. "I don't deserve being spared by you, great divine beast of the Anurai clan." Veylu said, lowering down to bow at the anthro thanator. Then the yelling of children made Layontsin turn around and hold her spear up again, to where the na'vi children have been situated while she fought. The anthro thanator tensed up when she saw the tsahik of the Ash clan suddenly there, having picked one of the children out from the group and moving her knife under the neck of them. The one that the tsahik had picked from the group of children...was none other than Lily, Asim's young sister. "No! Mother, stop! Don't do this!" Veylu begged, moving to step closer to her mother but stopping when she received a blind-eyed glare from the tsahik. "I will do what I must. I will make sure that the injustices made by our clan are made right! No matter what it costs! Unlike you, pitiful daughter of mine, who won't even have the nerve of obeying me." The Ash clan tsahik growled, glaring at Veylu and Layontsin as she continued to hold a scared Lily at knife's edge. "It's true. I am not brave like the others, but I am wise to see that this won't help. Vengeance will result in more vengeance, and it will not stop. This isn't what my sister and brother would have wanted." Veylu said to the tsahik, more tears streaming from the tsakarem's face. "You know nothing, ungrateful daughter of mine. I will ensure that the clan continues to thrive, and that the enemies from the skies know our pain and anger. Even if it means dying in the end, alone and without anyone!" The tsahik snarled, glaring at them with pure hatred emanating from her clouded eyes. "You do this, and the bloodshed will never end. It won't be worth it. It's more, it only has caused the loss of more of your people. Can't you see what is happening? Eywa has abandoned your clan because of what you have done, and she has used the creatures and even the skypeople against you." Layontsin warned, growling and continuing to point her spear at the tsahik. "Let me go, I will only need the blood from this child. The rest of children will be yours. Or I will kill as many na'vi children if you try to stop me." The tsahik said, starting to slowly back away from all of them while taking Lily as she had the knife still under her neck. Lily whimpered, her face expressing fear and terror that broke the anthro thanator's heart when she saw her with that face. Layontsin, desperate to save the small skyperson child, was about to run at the tsahik when she looked away to take her but surprise.
However, she then noticed behind Veylu a set of glowing red eyes approaching.
The dark shape of Asim was suddenly there, and then he rushed towards Veylu and knocked her down onto the ground. Asim then pinned the tsakarem with one foot, not letting her get up as she struggled to escape. Then he moved his black bow-spear to point its blade directly over Veylu's head, making Layontsin and the Ash clan tsahik stiffen at the sight. The rest of his group appeared and surrounded everyone from all sides, eyes narrowed and making sure none of them escaped. Asim then stared up at the Ash clan tsahik with the same unchanged face of rage Layontsin has seen him wear, his hands, body and face stained with more blood than ever. The eyes of the skyperson contined to glow red, not blinking once as he glared at the tsahik. "Let her go..." Asim breathed, almost hissing as his voice seethed out large amounts of unquelled rage. "No. Asim. Don't do this." Layontsin said to him, her voice trembling in fear as she saw what Asim was planning to do; kill the tsakarem if the tsahik didn't let go of Lily. The tsahik looked at Asim with her clouded eyes, thinking for a moment before scoffing. "You think I care for my pitiful daughter? No, I don't. I don't care what you do to her." The Ash clan tsahik said with uncaring honesty in her voice. "Please mother! Don't hurt his sister! Let her go! Please, do not become what you have begun to hate..." Veylu pleaded under Asim's foot that pinned her down, her voice breaking. Even Lily was begging that Asim were to not harm Veylu, sobbing as she struggled in the tsahik's hold. Then Asim growled and used the tip of his bow-spear to make a small cut on the tsakarem's neck, emphasizing that he was not bluffing. Veylu gave a cry of pain as she felt the cut made, making the tsahik flinch when she heard that noise. "A life...for a life...you evil tsahik...just like you took away my brother." Asim snarled at the tsahik in the na'vi tongue. When he saw that the tsahik wasn't letting go of his sister, Asim made up his mind and slowly raised up his spear in the air, ready to plunge it down on Veylu. "No, Asim. Don't do it!" Layontsin begged, but he didn't listen.
With another unnatural scream, he plunged down the tip of the bow-spear down to the tsakarem.
