Asim was unsure of the decision that the tsahik has made.
Mainly because he was going to work with the same creature that almost killed him in the first place. Possibly because since they had a recent history with each other and the tsahik thought that because they knew each other, that they could get along together well. That wasn't the case for Asim, and he was certain that Layontsin thought the same as him as he noticed her displeasure moments ago. "Pardon for the rudeness of my question, but...why send her with me? She could easily kill me when she gets the chance." Asim asked the tsahik Unil'tingai, Shaka translating it. The tsahik looked at Layontsin, and then back at him before replying. "She says that she is the best choice, as she is an excellent hunter and can teach you well. And she is certain that Layontsin won't eat you, as she knows the decision that has been made." Shaka translated for Asim. They noticed that some na'vi were giving whispering snickers, possibly about how all this will en bad for him as he was now going to be stuck with the thanator creature. From what Asim could tell, there was no say in this decision that has been taken. But fairness in this matter didn't have to be necessary in this, as he felt that maybe the tsahik was being wise about this. Who knows, maybe it would help Asim get to know Layontsin better now that he and his teammates would be welcomed to visit the na'vi clan. Not that it was going to happen frequently, and certainly not like Asim would agree to be friends with Layontsin.
So, pushing past his pride and selectiveness, Asim agreed with the terms.
The clan leader nodded to the decision that Asim has made and turned to the other na'vi, which a Asim saw that some knew somewhat of English, and started to "assign" them to each of Asim's teammates. Asim was obviously assigned with Layontsin, per the tsahik's decision, and his friends had one na'vi accompany them. Lily didn't have one as she was young, and she was starting to become wore adapt to the situation. It's more, Lily didn't seem to be nervous or wary of the na'vi that surrounded them, which made Asim feel a hint of pride. "For today, you all shall go and see the village with your very eyes. On the next days, you shall start learning our ways." The clan leader said to them. "Understood" Asim said, the other ones nodding. And so they began to walk with the na'vi hunters hand the others that accompanied them, the clan leader being the one to guide them.
As they walked around the village, they spotted how tranquil the place was. All the na'vi were living peacefully with each other, which included families, relatives, and those that were from different families. Asim and his friends were awed by everything that was shown to them, from the camp, the living huts, the food, the art in sculpting, and the culture that the clan had. Shaka was right; the Anurai clan were excellent crafters, and they also included beauty with it. While they walked, some na'vi children, mature and younger, ran past them. Lily hid behind Mikhail a bit, surprised by how energetic the na'vi children were. Or perhaps she was a bit frightened because of their size as na'vi children were bigger than humans. Whichever the case, Asim also noticed Lily have a face of wonder and interest. Now that they will be invited to come over to the village when they chose, Asim was going to do his best to continue protecting Lily when na'vi were around, including the younger ones.
After they were toured around the na'vi village, and having familiarized all its areas and places, the clan leader Rai'uk invited all of them over for a meal. Which was unexpected for the group, yet they did not turn down the offer. They were led to the main hut where the clan leader and the tsahik, the other na'vi except the ones that accompanied them being ordered by the clan leader to return to their homes or jobs. They didn't have to wait much for it as the meal has already been prepared, which was a mixture of fruits, cooked meat, and some other edible things. Once Asim and everyone with him sat down, the clan leader told them they could eat. Asim and his friends began eating, the majority removing their breathing masks so they could eat. While they ate, the clan leader and the tsahik asked them questions about who each of them were and how each of them met, as they noticed that each of them were slightly or very different from each other. Shaka did his best to translate everything that Asim and his friends responded to such questions. Of course, they tried to explain while exempting some details as the na'vi wouldn't understand and there weren't any exact translations for terms like super soldiers, experiments, genetical enhancements, and so fourth when it came to human stuff.
"So...each of you came from different clans from the skypeople home. How many are there?" Rai'uk asked them as they conversated. "That is right. There are many. More than the clans here. We didn't get along for a long time, but because of our dying home, we made a sort of peace." Kentaro explained to the clan leader. "Which clans did you come from?" he asked them.
"Nihon." Kentaro said.
"Rossiya" Mikhail said.
"Éireann" Emeralda said.
"Afrika" Shaka said.
"America. At least, that's what I believe. And Lily as well. All of us were orphans from our tribes, forced to be together and become warriors, until we escaped and decided to come here to Pandora and live freely" Asim explained as each of his teammates identified their homeland origins. The clan leader and the tsahik were impressed by the names that were spoken. "How was your home? Before it started dying?" The tsahik asked, Shaka translating it to his friends. Shaka decided to answer it as he was the one more familiarized with the history of Earth. Asim could slightly understand what Shaka was saying, possibly telling that Earth was like Pandora before. All lush and beautiful with its forests, oceans, biomes, and so many creatures. Asim and the others only have seen it in videos and history classes, while Shaka seemed to have much more knowledge thanks to his indigenous heritage imparted by his previous parents and ancestors. The only simple answer that Asim would have given them would be that it was just like Pandora, filled with life. "It's true. All of it. Until our fathers and forefathers began to destroy and consume everything. Leaving it a dry and dark land all over, with no memory of its beauty." Kentaro concurred with what Shaka had explained to the clan leader and tsahik. The two looked at them with looks of sympathy, and even the clan leader that had a stern face seemed to soften a bit. "Did...did your people have Eywa?" Rai'uk asked them. "No. We didn't have Eywa or any other deity that was part of nature....but we did have each other. And we made ourselves a family." Shaka said to him, looking to the side at his comrades and smiling. They too smiled as the group knew that without each other, they wouldn't have made it this far.
They continued to conversate with the clan leader and tsahik, enjoying the meal provided to them, until they finished and decided it was time to leave. As much as Asim and his friends wanted to stay a little longer with the na'vi, Lily included as she wanted to know the na'vi more now that she managed some courage of her own, they knew that they had to go back home so they wouldn't be a burden for the na'vi clan. "Thank you for everything, Rai'uk, leader of the Anurai clan" Asim said as he and his friends reached the outskirts of the camp, facing the clan leader and other na'vi that followed them. The clan leader nodded and gave the hand gesture, saying "Oel ngati kameie" before turning around and leaving. Surprisingly, Layontsin stayed with them for a bit, watching Asim with intent eyes. He noticed her and stepped forwards to stand in front of her, looking up at the thanator creature. In turn she did the same as she stared down at him with her green predatory eyes, though now they were different. Instead of seeing Asim with wariness and distrust, she now had a look that expressed calmness and respect. The she spoke something in the native tongue, which Shaka immediately translated. "She says she looks forwards to meeting again. And called you a small prey." Shaka said. This caused Asim to smirk at Layontsin's remark, thinking of what he could say back. "Tell her that I will do the same. Large moron." Asim said, Shaka translating. Layontsin narrowed her eyes, but instead of snarling because of the insult, she gave him what looked like a toothed smile, before turning around with a swish of her tail and returning to the village.
Then Asim and his friends went back to the chopper, so they could return home.
