He told them everything. From start to finish.
Asim told his teammates everything that has happened. Sometimes he paused so that the questions from them could be answered before continuing. When Asim finished, everyone was just left speechless. "...Shinjirarenai...all this time...you just disappeared and survived on your own..." Kentaro said as the others too agreed. "Please, tell me, how long was I out? And what happened in that time I was missing?" Asim asked them. A long time passed, with everyone looking at Kentaro for the answer. "It.....it has been a year since you went out in battle and didn't come back" Kentaro said, his response digging deep into Asim's mind and heart. It also almost made him stumble back. "One year...that's impossible. Yet...here I am. You guys...am I dreaming? Or am I here in real life?" Asim asked, voice hollow as he registered what his friend had said. Mikhail frowned and got up from his seat to come over to Asim...and give him a strong punch in the chest. This caused Asim to cough and almost fall down. "Does that hurt?" Mikhail asked as he stepped back, raising an eyebrow. "Yep...it hurt...thanks..." Asim groaned as he recovered from the hit that his teammate gave him and finally sat down on a chair. "Seriously, what happened that made you simply disappear for a whole year and then suddenly pop back up alive?" Emerald asked. "Indeed. And with the fall and how you were initially hit, it would have been impossible to survive. Plus, how you are able to breathe the deadly atmosphere normally." Shaka said in a concerned manner "I don't know! As much as I ask myself what happened. What matters is that I am here and with you guys now. And now it's the turn for you guys to tell me what happened." Asim said, a bit exasperatedly as the same unanswered questions continued to bother him. Kentaro sighed and nodded, moving closer to Asim with his seat.
"After...after the battle in the mountains...the RDA lost the fight and the personnel were forced to leave the planet back to Earth. A few of the ones that supported Jake Sully and the na'vi, in the Avatar Program, chose to stay here on Pandora." Kentaro explained. "We...ran as we were worried that we would be forced to return, and that we would go in the same ship that the underlings from the organization were in." Emeralda added afterwards to support what they have gone through. "With some luck, we found this greenhouse outpost that was abandoned since the start of human visits here in Pandora. Here, we have supplies that we can use to help us gather other things. And thanks to the greenhouse, we have plenty of food." Shaka said, leaning back on her chair. "And the best part, is that there is a huge weapons stockpile and some ammunition in the basement for us to use. Must have been abandoned by RDA officials who planned to use it in case of 'mutiny' against their superiors." Mikhail said, hoisting up his weapon, a machine gun, to emphasize. "Plus, there is a prototype transport on the other side of the mountain that we were able to finish." Emeralda added. "Even with being in danger of being discovered by others or getting attacked by na'vi from different tribes, we didn't stop searching for you" Kentaro said. Asim nodded as he listened to what each of his teammates had to say, smiling a bit as he also heard their determination of trying to find him no matter what.
"Alright then. So, from what I heard, you have materials, provisions, and transportation. Have you guys done anything else? Like...you know...trying to get other materials?" Asim asked them. "You mean take from Hell's Gate? Oh we have thought of that. 'Hey, excuse us. We are runaway super soldiers that are currently in hiding in insert-location. Could we kindly take some provisions so that we can continue living in the outpost? Without the risk of starving or getting overrun by na'vi that may or may not want us here?' We thought of that, and we aren't taking any risks." Emerald said, with a hint of sarcasm in her voice. "Yeah. You are right. I know how you guys feel, and how I would have felt for everyone in this situation." Asim agreed with her. "On top of that, we don't know how Jake would react, even if we explained our backstory of everyone here. And that includes the natives on his side that have suffered greatly from us humans." Kentaro said.
After a moment, Asim remembered what he had promised the natives. "Speaking about the natives, the clan leader has asked me to bring back some items that were stolen by us a long time ago. What was the word he said....Lolas?...Logas...?" he said, scratching his head to try and remember exactly what was said. "I think they are asking for Lo'as, which means totems and sacred items." Shaka said as he was thoughtful about what Asim said. This surprised Asim, as he heard how well accented Shaka's na'vi sounded. "You know what it means?" Asim asked, Shaka nodding in response. "Yes. I have decided to study and practice the na'vi language to use it and try to communicate with the natives, in case some didn't understand English, during your absence. It wasn't that hard, as my Yoruba language is similar to theirs with some small differences. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance as they seemed bent on attacking instead of dialogue" he said, sighing a bit. Asim nodded and reached out to place a hand on Shaka's shoulders. "Don't worry. I know you work hard like the rest. And that you still choose dialogue over violence first." Asim said to his friend. Shaka looked up at him and smiled, holding Asim's arm and giving it a grip of gratitude.
"Oh. And we almost forgot. Want to see what we have been up to? It's what has been keeping us alive, and it will impress you" Shaka said, now switching the subject to try and lighten the mood. "Lead the way" Asim said as he got up, the others doing the same. Though they stopped as an alarm started to blare, red lights flashing in the room. Shaka gasped and said something in yoruba, as in a curse, as he went to pick up his breathing mask. "Stay here! I'll be back!" Shaka said as he hurried to the other door and entered, picking up some tools before closing the door behind him "What's happening?" Asim asked as the alarms co tinted to blare. "A leak in the cabin pressure. If it's not tended to it, all the oxygen we have gained will flow out." Kentaro explained. "Thanks to the na'vi. Curse them. They don't know what they are doing, puncturing the walls of the biomes" Mikhail said in a frustrated tone as soon the alarms stopped. Moments later Shaka returned as he opened the door and closed it behind him again, taking off his mask and sighing in relief. "The leak has been sealed" he announced, and the others also gave sighs of relief. "Its so frustrating. They attack either weekly or daily. And they don't stop." Emeralda said with bitterness in her tone. Asim looked around, thoughtful for a second before an idea came to his mind. "Shaka. You said that you studied na'vi, right?" Asim asked him, to which Shaka nodded. "There is a bit that might slip, but everything else I can translate" Shaka said.
"Good. Because from now on, you will be our interpreter. And we will ask them what else they want now and to stop attacking this outpost." Asim said to Shaka.
