For a moment, I felt nothing except from a slashing sensation across my chest. However, when the pain finally set in, it really set in. The pain that spread across my chest was an unbelievably, unimaginably hot, searing pain. It felt more like a burn than a cut, and the burning sensation only seemed to spread further and further.

My whole chest lit up in agonising pain. Even when the sword was done inflicting its damaging, the pain seemed to grow and grow.

The entire world around me seemed to slow down completely in that moment, until time itself felt like it had froze. Nobody dared move a single muscle. Everybody seemed too shocked, too confused by my sudden act. I was surprised myself. I hadn't thought about doing what I was going to do, I just did it.

My legs had seemingly taken over, moving on their own will, against my own. I turned my head slowly, to face the old man who I had just saved. Accidentally, in my act, I had shoved him over. He now lay on the floor, staring up at me in a mixture of both confusion and horror.

From his point of view, this must have been quite confusing. After all, I was stoll dressed up like a clown. I looked exactly like the people who had just destroyed his entire town. I looked exactly like the person who was going to slash the old man's head off. Yet, I had saved him. He probably didn't understand why.

I began to worry that I had shoved him too hard. He was very old, after all. He was at least in his mid-eighties. A fall to the ground like that could easily really hurt him.

In a choked, pained voice, I attempted to ask him, "Are...you...o..."

The second that I opened my mouth, the pain across my chest seemed to become worse. I gasped and choked on my words, giving up pretty quickly on talking. It hurt too much, and the world was starting to slip away from me.

Everything around me had begun to spin, blur into a dizzying, nauseating view. Before I knew it, I felt myself lose my balance, and my body slumped against the ground with an audible thump! sound.

I hadn't fully passed out yet. I was so scared that, if I succumbed to the darkness that tried to desperately to pull me into its grasp, I wouldn't ever wake up again. The slash felt deep. If the pain was anything to go off of, the clown had done some serious damage to me. I clung desperately to consciousness, yet I could tell it was a losing battle.

"Betty!" A deep voice yelled, sounding like a million miles away.

The voice was distorted but despite that I knew instantly who the voice belonged to. It was Buggy's voice. It seemed like I would recognise his voice anywhere, even on the verge of death. All I wanted in that moment was to see him. However, no matter how hard I tried to, I physically couldn't get my eyes to open. It felt as if they were glued firmly shut. As I tried to fight to pry them open, I felt myself slip closer and closer to the darkness.

Suddenly, I felt the sensation of my body being lifted off the ground. Horrible, searing pain spread throughout my entire body as it happened. Without meaning to, I felt myself cry out, in a pained groaned. I tried to twist free of the grip of whomever was carrying me.

"It's okay," Buggy's voiced spoke, in a hushed lull. Despite the fact that I couldn't see him, and his voice still sounded muted, I could hear plain as day the panic and fear in his voice. Was he worried for me? I couldn't imagine a man like him being worried about anybody. "Stay awake, Betty. Talk to me, please."
