I managed to leap out of the reach of the metal bat just in time. I threw myself to the side, my whole body slamming against the cold, wet, rock ground of the cave. The rough service cut and ripped the skin off of my body, leaving small bleeding cuts in their place. I sucked in a heavy breath, as I laid there on the floor. The pain wasn't the worst, especially not compared to the pain I felt in my head.
Suddenly, I heard the sound of a deep, animalistic screaming. I looked, seeing Stede racing towards me. Luckily for me, he was quite slow, probably due to his massive side and broad body.
Quickly, I rolled to the side, right as his bat came swinging down, smashing down into the rock ground. I half expected the bat to break on impact, as the force at which he did it physically shook the ground I lay on. However, impressively, it didn't. It was strong. Stronger than I had given it credit for.
My plan seemed far more likely to work now, I thought. I got a small smile on my face, as I quickly got up onto my feet. My whole body shook from fear and adrenaline, yet I managed to stay firm in my spot.
"Stede, just leave her alone! She isn't worth the effort," Sanra called out, sounding more bored and annoyed than anything else.
The rest of the pirates booed her. Some yelled out:
"Don't ruin our fun!"
"Yeah, we want to see another head explosion!"
"Kill her, Stede! Show no mercy!"
Stede charged at me again. This time, instead of leaping to the ground, I stayed on my feet. I raced towards the large glass tank, which still had the majority of Buggy's body floating in it. I heard the sound of the bat coming down behind me, and knew that I wasn't going to make it in time.
I turned my head, seeing the metal bat about two inches away from my face. Then, suddenly, I felt a pair of hands push me roughly from my side. I went flying throughout the air, smashing into the ground with enough force to knock all of the air from my lungs.
Looking up, I saw Buggy's floating hands. I got a large, happy smile across my face. He was conscious, he had saved me. I looked over towards his head, which was staring right at me, with pure fear sketched across his face.
Stede wasted no time whatsoever, racing back towards me. Buggy's hands gripped the fabric of my clothes, lifting me off of the ground and back the way I had came, away from Stede. I was in front of the water tank now. Exactly where I wanted to be.
Then, I felt Buggy's hands increase their grip on me, and trying to lift me up off the floor. I realised that he was trying to do his plan, he was going to lift me up and towards the hole in the roof of the cave. I couldn't let that happen. If I did, Buggy was as good as dead.
I twisted and fought against his grip, I heard his voice as he called out to me. I didn't listen to his words. I didn't have the time to talk or argue with him. Finally, I slipped through his grip, smacking his hands away.
The ground shook as Stede ran towards me. The whole crowd of pirates cheered and yelled out in excitement. They were about to get their show. I kept steady, ready to leap at a moments notice. Stede stopped, so close to me, swinging the bat side ways. It was going to work, I realised, as I leapt out of its path.
The metal bat met the glass of the water tank, immediately reducing it to shatters. The whole thing smashed, glass flew throughout the air, some of it cutting and slashing at me, as I once again smashed against the ground. Water washed over me, as well as more glass. I even felt parts of Buggy's body land on top of me. My whole body felt limp, lifeless. I had used the rest of my strength to do that. Now, I had little left.
