A/n: Hiiii, I'm sorry it's taken me so long to update. I've had the busiest week ever!! However, I'm here now lol. Also, I realized I may have forgotten to add some tw to some parts, I'm very sorry about that. Anyway, for the most part, this is a fun chapter, not to mention a long one (almost 7k words). I genuinely  think this is the best representation of y/n's mind and behavior; a whirlwind. I hope you enjoy it!

The next couple of days were pretty relaxed as well. You really got to know Dash's mom and his little sister Edi; you actually got along with her pretty well. She asked you about your own siblings and your parents, and asked to see a lot of pictures of them and your home. It was really sweet that she was interested in your life. "Y/n?!!!", "yes Ediiii", you said as you played with her beautiful golden hair. You were both sitting on the living room couch. "Would you like to play mermaids with me!!!". The thought of putting on a swimsuit makes me want to die, but for her I'll play anything. SHIT I just remembered I didn't bring one. "I'D LOVE TO! But I didn't bring a swimsuit!", you made a frown to make sure she understood you were frustrated you couldn't swim with her. "Why don't you ask my mom for one?!" She said very excited because she had found a solution to your problem. "I'm not sure she'll be comfortable with that, but we can ask her!". "Yes, yes, come on let's go, I think she's in her office". The little girl dragged you along by the hand to her mother's office. "But what if she's working? I don't want to bother her! Why don't we go find your brother first and ask him to make sure she's not busy?!". You crouched down to face her. "All right", she said, a bit disappointed. "Let me call him to see where he is".

"Hey, where are you?". "In the games room", he answered. "Edith wants to play mermaids", you said as the little girl stood by your side holding your hand. "Fun", he blankly said, and you dismissed his sarcasm. "I didn't bring a swimsuit, though, remember?". "Right... I had told my mom about it, but I'm not sure if she got it", he said. "Well, I think she's in her office, but I don't want to disturb her. "Will you ask her please?!". "Just knock on the door, I'm sure she won't mind". "Dash, pleaseee I'm begging you! Meet us here in the living room and we'll knock on her door together", you pleaded. "Fine", he sighed, "give me a minute I'll be right there". "Thank you!!".

"Okay, your brother's coming downstairs now to come with us to ask your mom... What if we ask him to play a merman?!", you told Edi, hoping to annoy Dash. "Yeah!!", said Edi, jumping excitedly. "Okay, but ask him when your mom is in the room so he won't be able to say no, alright?", you told the blond. She just giggled and clapped her hands together.

He got to the living room and took you by the waist on the way to Cate's office; Edi was skipping ahead of you. "I'm nervous", you whispered to him. "To play mermaids?! I'm sure you'll do great", he chuckled. "No, dummy. What if they see my scars? Plus my knees are all bruised from dancing, it's not a pretty look". "I'm sure they won't say anything", he reassured you. "Well if they ask me, I will lie so just go along with it okay?", you told him. "You don't need to lie to my mom", he said sweetly. "I know, but I can't tell the truth; at least not right now... Maybe in a few more years when I'm fine again", you said trying to comfort yourself and excuse your lie. "If that brings you comfort I'll do whatever you say, I just want to take care of you", he kissed you on the cheek. "Thank you", you hugged his side.

When you got to the office, Dash knocked on the door and his mother answered "Yes, who is it?". "It's me mom", he said. "Come in". You stayed behind at the entrance of the office with Edi hugging you by the hip. "Oh hey everyone!", she smiled and took her pink glasses off. "Mom, Edith wants to swim". "Yeah mom!, come swim with us!", said Edi. "But y/n didn't bring a swimsuit, I'm not sure if–". "Oh yeah! I got her one, I forgot to give it to her", Cate said. You were so thankful for all that she did, but you felt like you couldn't give her anything in return, so any time you had an opportunity to say thank you, you made sure that you sounded truly grateful for everything. "So you'll swim?!", Edi said as she tugged on your hand. "I will!!", you told her as you held the back of her head and crouched down to hug her. You then whispered to her and reminded her of the previous plan about Dash playing with both of you. "Dash, will you play with us?!", she asked him. "Pleaseeee", she pleaded with a sad face. After a few seconds of silence, Cate spoke. "Come on, play with your sister, I'll meet you guys down there after I hand y/n the swimsuit". Dash rolled his eyes and gave in "fineee". "Yay!!", Edi said. You again crouched down and whispered in her ear "See, I told you it would work". Dash heard you and he just looked at you with squinted eyes, "you're evil", he said. You raised both of your eyebrows in a mocking way. Cate spoke again, "well y/n, I have the swimsuit in my room, will you come with me to get it? Also, I want to make sure it fits well; if it doesn't you can borrow one of mine", she said and smiled. "See, I told you she wouldn't mind", said Edi out loud. For some reason, Edi saying that made you a bit embarrassed, but whatever. "We'll meet you guys at the pool then", Dash said, "I'll get Edi's things for her".
