7. It's love

Siddhant's POV

It's been a week since our college began. Everything is good but I miss my family. Atleast I have Aarav here with me. He is a part of my family. My parents are just one step away from legally adopting him.

"Please Sid, come with me." Aarav has been trying to convince me to go along with him for shopping but I just hate it. He wants to shop for the freshers party.
"Sid, I know even you don't have a black suit. So just come with me. I promise it won't take much long. Just half an hour. Please come with me." He literally begged joining his hands.

"Okay fine, but only half an hour." I said and he just nodded.

It was 6:20 when we reached the mall. Aarav dragged me along with him into a shop and started looking for a suit. Even I started looking for a suit. I selected a black 3 piece suit for myself.

As promised, Aarav did all the shopping in half an hour. We paid our bill and as we were leaving the mall, someone tapped on my shoulder. I turned around to see a girl who was giving me a flirty smile.

"Hey Sid, how are you? When did you come to Chennai? Are you here for a vacation? Are your parents here too?" She fired all these questions at me.

"Hi Maya, I'm fine. I got admission in the IIT that's why I'm here. And it's Siddhant for you." I told her and she was a little taken aback but her flirty smile didn't leave her face for even a second.

She is Maya. She's the daughter of my dad's friend who moved to Chennai a few years ago. I've know Maya since we were kids. She had a crush on me since we were teens but I never reciprocated her feelings because I was not at all interested in her.

She held my hand and said, "I'm in IIT too. I missed you so much. Now that we're in the same college, we can meet everyday. I am so happy. If you don't mind, can we go out sometime when you're free?"

To be honest, I was feeling uncomfortable. I just looked away and I saw Aarav talking to someone.

Siya.

He was talking to Siya. What is she doing here? Maybe shopping. Her friends are with her too. Why is she smiling? Is Aarav flirting with her? What's happening?

I wasn't even listening to what Maya was saying. I was busy looking at Siya. Maya called out my name and looked at me as if she expected an answer. I didn't even know what she was talking about. I just nodded at her and what she did next was unexpected. She hugged me. But I didn't hug her back. She continued to talk for a while but all this time, my eyes were on Siya. How does she manage to look so beautiful all the time?

She looked at her watch and said something to Aarav and that bastard hugged her and said something pointing towards her friend and Siya just laughed.
I'm gonna kill Aarav. He knows that I like her but still he's flirting with her. How can she hug him? I should have been in Aarav's place.

She left along with her friends without even glancing at me once. I too, bid bye to Maya and went towards Aarav and smacked his head.

"What?" He yelled.
"Why did you hug Siya? You know I like her and still you were flirting with her? What are you trying to do?" I literally shouted at him which made him flinch.

"Relax Sid, I wasn't flirting with her. I was just being friendly unlike you. You don't even look at her and then get jealous when you see me talking to her. And don't worry, she's all yours. And I guess I've found someone for me too." He said and smiled at his own words.

I relaxed a bit but then I realised what he said. "What do you mean? Do you have a girlfriend?" I asked him curiously.

"No bro, you will be the first one to know when I start dating. It's just..... I can't explain. Leave it. But now please, talk to her. Freshers party will be the perfect opportunity to talk to her. And please don't mess up this time." He said and I nodded.

He was right. I have to talk to her. She has occupied all my thoughts. Today, I got jealous of my own bestfriend. I never thought I would be jealous over a girl. But she has made me feel all those emotions that I didn't even know exists. Maybe this feeling is beyond just liking. I guess it's love.......
