Y/N's POV:
"Mark hyung," I hear Chenle panicking, "The brakes are not working!"
My heart drops in my chest and I pray that I've heard wrong.
"What?" I hear Mark ask.
It seems like the color has left my face because Renjun rushes to my side and shakes me lightly.
"Is everything okay?" He tries but I don't respond.
"The brakes have failed!" Chenle repeats confirming my doubts and increasing my worry.
"The brakes have failed?!" Haechan shrieks through the earpiece, and right in front of me.
Jaemin is nowhere to be seen as he had gone to get someone on their Colonel's orders. Even though, I'm pretty sure he can hear everything, seeing how everyone is connected to the call.
"What is happening?" I find my voice immediately after Haechan speaks.
Renjun has stopped demanding an answer from me because he must've heard Haechan, which answered his question.
"Look guys, we'll be fine okay? But for now, I'll have to disconnect." Mark speaks a little too quickly but surprisingly calm too. In less then a second, I can't hear either him or Chenle.
"Mark hyung, what the actual hell?! Your'll are in trouble!" Haechan panics further.
This makes me understand why Mark had disconnected himself from the call. Haechan would've only increased his worries.
I stagger backwards in complete shock when I realize what failed brakes actually mean. Renjun is there by my side immediately as he back hugs me from behind.
"It's going to be okay. Don't worry Mark got this." He lightly rubs the sides of my shoulders to calm me down.
"The-... The brakes have-" I start to say but Renjun turns me around to face him. He holds my cheek with his hand.
"Listen, stop overthinking it." He says and I nod at his advice.
Just then, Jaemin emerges from wherever, with what looks like military personnels.
"They are here." He announces in a low tone, not in the usual sweet tone he chose to keep around me.
He must've also surpressed his worries because he had another job to prioritize. Haechan has also calmed down and his expression is rather serious.
I look around me and realize that these guys must've had training for such incidents. If something traumatic were to happen and you're still on duty, keep your feelings intact. Maybe they followed these kind of rules.
It also shows me how emotionally weak I am, compared to all of them. But I can't help it, I'm only human.
"Where is it?" One of the bomb squad member's ask.
My soul had officially left my body so I don't even realize it when Renjun makes me stand in front of them. He points to exactly where the bomb is.
What I do notice, is that Jisung and Jeno are approaching us from the back door exit of the hotel. Jeno is holding Xiao Ling while Jisung has his head hung.
When they reach closer, I realize that Jisung had been crying. Maybe he still couldn't control his emotions because he was that sensitive.
Jaemin goes to his side while Renjun explains to the bomb squad people that the other half is attached to the little girl. Jeno hands the girl to one of the men before patting her head lightly and retreating back. I'm glad that she is asleep, so she won't have to witness any of this.
