.....For the first time in weeks Damon felt something. He felt relief. "This is the beginning of a whole new life." He said to himself "I don't have to worry about anyone, or anything." he thought. Damon uncorked the vial, closed his eyes, and drank the entire thing.
Damon opened his eyes. "Where am I?" he said as he peered around the place he was in. It was an endless room with water on the floor. Just enough to cover his toes. Damon looked up at the sky. There was a black sun, almost like a total solar eclipse. "Hello?!" Damon yelled as his voice echoed. He glared in all directions hoping to see something, anything. The place was hot and the air was heavy. It felt like a humid day in the world's hottest swamp. It was suffocating. Damon felt extremely anxious. He started running. As hard as he could in one direction. He ran until he couldn't run anymore and collapsed on the ground. Panting and terrified Damon sat up and yelled "Anybody!?" as loud as he could. His voice echoed as he was greeted by only the lonely response of silence. "How do I get out of here?" he thought to himself. "Think! Where was I? I was at the marking ceremony, and I walked up onto the stage. I drank the vial." Damon thought. His anxiousness went away as he calmed down.
"The others before me passed out. They must've gone this place too." Damon thought. He stood up and stared at the blacked-out sun. Damon heard a chuckle from behind him. He turned around and what he saw shocked him. Damon rubbed his eyes to make sure he wasn't going crazy. It was himself. But different. He looked exactly like Damon except his eyes were red and the whites of his eyes were black. "Who are you?" Damon said. The figure smiled "I am you. The part you suppress. The part everyone suppresses. I am your darkest desires and your risks you never take. I am the anger you remedy and the violence you incite. I am your regrets, and your victories. I am....you." said the figure as it smiled.
Damon stood, puzzled and confused at what he was looking at. "So, what you're telling me is you're the.....evil part of me"? The figure shook it's head "No, we are the sum of the decisions we make correct"? Damon shook his head "No, I don't think so. I think we are more than the choices we make. We change every day. The person you were a year ago is not the person you are today, and the person you are today is not the person you'll be a year from now. So, the choices you make today shouldn't determine who you are, because you can change into a different person with different values". The figure paced back and forth, pondering what Damon had said.
"So according to your logic the far radical of each emotion you experience will change over time as you evolve into a new person correct?" said the figure. Damon laughed "Now I definitely know you're not me because I don't talk that smart". The figure stared at Damon with a serious glare. "I am your Dark side." said the figure. "So what? You're like Dark Damon or something? That sounds really emo dude." Damon replied. Dark Damon lunged at Damon and opened his palm to reveal the marks. He placed it right on Damon's chest. An explosion came out of the end of his hand and Damon flew backwards at least thirty feet.
He landed on his back and the wind was immediately knocked out of him. Struggling to breathe he turned to his side. He saw legs. He followed them with his eyes to the face of the person. It was Orion. Everything looked the same on him except for his eyes. They were the same as Dark Damon's. "You make me sick." Orion said. Damon struggled to his feet "Yeah, well I'm not too fond of you either at the moment". Orion swung at Damon. Damon ducked and missed it. He stood up straight and moved backwards away from Orion. "I'm not going to hit you Orion. You are my best friend." Damon said. "Was." Orion corrected as he turned around and walked away.
"Wait!" Damon yelled. As he ran towards Orion. He put his hand on Orion's shoulder, and he disappeared into thin air. "What the fuck!" Damon yelled as he looked at his hands. "How could you do that to me?" came a voice from behind Damon. He turned around to see Anna crying. "Anna I didn't." Damon pleaded as he walked towards her. She opened her eyes and looked at him, which revealed she too had the same red and black eyes as Dark Damon and Orion. "I would have done anything for you. I would have done all of it." Anna cried. She turned around and walked away. Damon chased after her and grabbed her arm. She too disappeared into thin air.
