On your feet." said a voice. Damon opened his eyes. The sunlight was shining right on his face. Rowen was shaking him. "C'mon, we have a lot to do." Rowen said. Damon rolled out of bed. He was in another Monitor facility in the lower portion of the Sierra Nevada mountains. The facility had the same color scheme as the underground one, except this was above ground. There were neatly folded Monitor recruit clothes on the stand beside the bed. "Change, and meet me out front." Rowen said while walking away. Damon put on the white and red outfit and walked out of the room.

Damon followed a hallway that led to a door. He opened it and was bombarded with sunshine. When his eyes adjusted, he could see the mountains in the distance. It was warm, but not too hot, as well as not too chilly. Damon was in shock. The view was beautiful. They seemed to be miles away from civilization. Damon followed the path to a big open piece of land where Rowen was standing. Rowen motioned Damon to come over to him. There was a stone table in front of Rowen. On the table were various knives, swords, and other hand to hand combat weapons. "Welcome to your first day." Rowen stated strongly with his hands behind his back. Damon scratched the back of his head still tired "Can we have breakfast first"? Rowen laughed, "not yet".

Damon gazed at the mountains behind Rowen "This is the most beautiful place I have ever seen." said Damon. Rowen smiled "This is our Sierra Nevada facility. It's remote as you can tell. It's relatively small as well. Most Monitors don't ever see this facility". Damon nodded. "Then why are we here"? Rowen turned around and walked a few steps while also gazing at the mountains. "We are here Damon because you have something special. After you drank the liquid in the vial your marks appeared. You ruthlessly slaughtered everything in your path. You were able to take down Lucas, Milena, and countless other senior Monitors". Damon looked away, ashamed. He then winced in pain as he had a flashback of what he had done.

Rowen walked up to Damon and put his hand on his shoulder. "Don't let the ones who died die in vain. Learn to control this. Work with me and we can make some amazing things happen"! Rowen shouted in a valiant tone. Damon wiped away the tears from his eyes. "I'll do it!" he shouted in a determined voice. "Good." Rowen nodded as he looked back at the mountains. "This will be many times harder than the training we typically give Monitors. You will receive that on top of training to figure out how to control those violent blackouts." Rowen said. Damon looked confused "And what if you aren't able to stop me when that happens"? Rowen whistled and Damon couldn't count the amount of red dot laser pointers that became trained on him. "Well that's encouraging." Damon said. "You won't die." Rowen replied. "I put you down by myself with the same guns they all have. We will control the situation. Trust me Damon we don't want to lose you".

Rowen whistled and the laser pointers disappeared. "How can you be sure I wont die?" Damon said without confidence. "I'm glad you pointed that out!" Lucas shouted as he walked back to the table. "These," he said as he pointed to the weapons on the table "are regular ass weapons. Before the mark they could've killed you. Now you have regeneration abilities as I am sure you know". Damon nodded. "These won't kill you. But this will." Rowen said as he pulled out the orangish-red semi clear knife. Damon recognized that color. Whatever knife that was it was the same one that Lucas used to take down the precursor on the roof the day he met him.

"This knife is made out of Moissanite. It is the same metal we use to kill precursors. As you know the Precursors also have the same regenerative ability that we have. However the only way to truly kill them is to take weapons made out of this material and shove it straight through the xiphoid process of the sternum. We, can also be morally wounded with the same type of stone. Although we don't need to have it driven through our xiphoid process. If we get attacked with this, it's as lethal as a regular knife is to a normal person. The marked ones and the Precursors are two sides of the same coin as far as we can tell." Rowen said.
