A month had passed. The sound of metal clinging echoed through the mountain range. Wind blew harshly as the cold bite of the frozen air could be felt by any who were there. The clinging became louder. On the other side of the face of a mountain Damon and Rowen were locking swords as they violently tried to put the other down. Rowen moved with grace and lightweight while Damon was sloppy and rugged. "You're getting better kid. Good enough for me to pick up a sword now." Rowen said while dodging a slice from Damon. Damon replied with a swift stabbing motion to which Rowen side stepped. Rowen threw a kick at Damon's leg which knocked him off balance. He then swiftly sliced Damon's hand off.
Damon picked up the sword with his other hand and kept fighting. He was becoming numb to the pain now. He knew his hand would regenerate within a couple of minutes. "Getting used to the pain now?" Rowen said as he countered Damon's slice with a stab of his own. He thrusted the sword all the way through Damon to the hilt and let go. Damon took a few steps backwards and breathed slowly and heavily. He dropped his own sword and screamed as he tore the sword out that Rowen had just stabbed him with. He dropped it, panting. Yellow electricity crackled around his wounds as they healed. Rowen clapped his hands while nodding "Fantastic! You're really getting the hang of this." he said as he motioned for Damon to follow him. "C'mon, grab the swords and lets head back. It's time you learned a new skill." he said as he jumped off the cliff back down to the Monitor facility. After a few minutes Damon's hand was back and the sword wound was closed. He grabbed the swords and climbed down the cliff to the Monitor facility.
Damon ate an insane amount of food. Much more than the average person in one setting. He burped as he finished his fifth rack of ribs and picked up his spoon to finish his seventh bowl of potatoes. Rowen sat across from him wiping his face from his meal. Several Monitors stood quietly in the corners of the room, ready at any moment to take Damon down. "You know, I have to say, the hostility of the other Monitors isn't something I will ever get used to." said Damon. Rowen replied "Things will be different once you learn to control the power you have. Damon stared at the ground with uncertainty. "C'mon it's time you learned the first of the three ACNAT's" Rowen said. "The whata- whata-?" Damon replied. "Just come with me." Rowen said in an agitated voice.
The two walked outside to the training area. The sound of scuffing rocks could be heard as they walked onto the dirt training area. Rowen turned to face the rock wall twenty feet behind him. "No doubt, you've seen this before haven't you?" Rowen said as he held an open palm towards the rocks. A spark ignited on his palm as yellow electricity danced up his forearm as a BANG could be heard. Damon covered his ears. The rock wall completely exploded as if someone had thrown a grenade at it. "I will never get used to that. That is deafening." Damon said as he heard ringing. "This is the first of the three ACNAT's." Rowen said. "The ACNAT's are something that Ryker himself figured out. He discovered that the mark doesn't just increase a person's physical, mental, and healing abilities.
One can also concentrate the power in one's hands for three distinct abilities." Rowen said with a stern and very serious voice. Damon nodded. "What you just saw was the first of the three. It is called Impetum. I want you to try." Rowen said. "What are the other two?" Damon asked. "Worry about this one first." Rowen said. Damon nodded and nervously walked up to Rowen. They both turned to face the rock wall that was partially destroyed. "Now point the mark at the wall with an open palm." Rowen said calmly. Damon did so. "Now very calmly, imagine the wall being completely destroyed." Rowen told him. Damon closed his eyes and did so. "Now say, Impetum." Rowen said.
"Impetum!" Damon yelled as an explosion erupted from his hands. He was blown back off of his feet at least twenty feet. He hit the ground with a THUD. Damon sat up, in pain as he looked at his hand. It was blown completely off. As if a grenade had exploded in his hand. He grimaced as the yellow electricity surrounded it and started the healing process. "Keep your head up. You'll get it." Rowen said as he walked to the side of the training area and sat in a chair. "Keep trying." Rowen encouraged.
