I have been waiting in Allegra's office for her since she had called me at five in the morning, whining that I had not given her an opportunity to commence her stalking on Aria. I'm thankful for her help to find her, but her eagerness is making me think that they think I'm just lonely.
The door to the office bursts open to reveal Allegra, a cup of coffee in one hand, a small handbag in her other. "Are you ready?" she asks me.
"You're the one doing the typing, the better question is are you ready?"
She scoffs at my question and sets her things down on the middle desk with the main keyboard and monitor. After the lengthy process of her logging into the system, she begins her search.
"Her name is Aria, right? What's her last name?" Allegra asks. I thin my lips and shake my head as I had never asked Aria for her last name, nor had she given it to me. Allegra rolls her eyes at me and just continues typing. "I have a general description since I saw her." she mumbles, mostly to herself, eventually just asking me for the area she lives in.
"Are you glad you can finally be a creepy ass stalker?" I ask as I grab my phone, replying to emails, text messages, and working from there.
Allegra laughs nervously, running a hand through her hair. "Capo, I may have some bad news." she says.
"What is it?" I ask her.
She pulls up a picture of Aria and points to it. "This is her, right? Like I'm not going insane? This is who I saw last night?" I look at the picture once more, never been more certain that's her. I nod to Allegra and she curses under her breath. "She's an Interpol agent."
At this point, I may sound cocky, but do I really care? Well, I do care, I've learned from and handled this business basically my entire life and would I really want someone to be able to take that away from me in an instant? But Esposito and Romano will take office soon and with their protection, there is a very low chance something will happen to me. Also, it sounds very bad, but do I necessarily have to tell Aria what I do for a living.
Right about now, the words 'CEO' and 'own a few companies' sound accurate and not incriminating. And also technically not a lie, something that everyone will defend me as since it is what everyone thinks I am.
"Well.." I start, knowing that Allegra will not like my idea. "..would I necessarily have to tell her who I am?"
Allegra looks at me in disbelief "What the fuck do you mean 'would I have to tell her'? Yes you would have to tell her! The fuck!" she argues but I put up my hands in defense.
"Okay! Valid point. But with Romano and Esposito taking office soon, what is the worse that could happen?" I reply, hoping for her to be on my side this time. She stays quiet, contemplating what she could say to me.
"But has it occur to you that what your plan is, is to lie to her, indefinitely by the way, and also risk your entire life and what generations of your family have worked for, also the livelihood of all of your employees." she mentions, the expression on her face calling me an idiot in about every language that is possible.
I sigh and let my head fall forward. "Okay but it would be a lie for the better. And also, all of my employees, and even my family are protected so the only one who would get screwed over is me and you can all continue living your happy rich lives." I explain, pretty much using the last of my defense against her.
"And would it all be worth it?" she asks and I nod, without hesitation. "Why?"
"Because I think I have feelings for her."
"Well, I think you're an idiot." she says, walking out of the office but I smile to myself. Alessandro explained some stuff to me the other day. He said that if I really liked her then she was going to be worth it. And I really do like her and I want to get to know her better, so I'm making the decision that she is worth the risk. I just hope everyone else is more supportive than Allegra.•••••
I've never been to a flower shop, but I never imagined them looking like this. There is barely any space to walk with how many flowers are everywhere. I spent about an hour picking out the prettiest flowers possible and arranging the bouquet by hand. I think I could have done better but it looks beautiful.
I decided to personally deliver the flowers to her building and I added a small card with a handwritten note on it. The cheesiest line I could think of with my personal phone number written on the back of it. I hope she is going to love it.
I went back to my house and up to my office as I had some last minute work to do. Not even ten minutes later, I got a text on my personal phone from an unknown number.
