"Andrej is awake," Aless says when I answer the phone.
After months, he had finally woken up from his coma. I shot him in a worse place than he had shot me so I wasn't surprised that I had recovered way before he had.
His mafia has not fallen apart since his brother has been able to take care of everything, and I was even able to tell his brother the truth and convince him of it.
His brother has visited but he has no one else except some girl he has a crush on. They are not married, they do not have any children together, but I know that she has one of her own from a previous relationship, the abusive type, but she still visits him whenever she can and since he has been closer to waking up she has been here a lot.
I do feel bad for her, having to see him like this but we have spoken. She was reluctant to in then beginning, however she has gotten used to his business dealings and knows why I did what I did.
I tried using the 'he shot me first' excuse in the beginning, but it got me nowhere.
Now that he is awake, I make my way over to the hospital. She is outside his room waiting for me to get there.
"Careful. He's grumpy." she says before I walk in, her son is asleep on her lap. Aria came with me so she stays outside with her while I go inside.
"My brother called," he says when he sees me, "told me everything."
"As soon as you are let go, we need to draw up new contracts," I tell him. He looks at me shocked, but I already know what he is thinking, "Neither of us should lose business because you were tricked by men I trained."
He laughs, "Trained them a little too well. But I have to fly to America as soon as I am released." he informs me.
"For what?" I question.
"One of my close friends has a son over there, his sons best friend and best friends girlfriend have just opened up their own business, a bakery type deal, and we were asked to go out there check it out and promote it. Lilly and Nick I think their names are." he explains to me.
I nod, "Sounds good. I have some business to take up over there as well. Should we go as well?" I ask him. He nods, and I make my way over to the chair next to his bed.
We keep talking for a while. I am not going to lose good business over men that I trained tricking him. The DeMarco were sneaky men who did anything they could for more power but it ended with them dead. They are the ones who messed everything up, they are the ones that killed my father, and the ones who stalked my wife. They are the ones to blame. Not Andrej.
Either way, I will be keeping an extremely close eye on him from now on.
Anyways, I am excited to take Aria to America. She can visit her father, and she is fond of supporting smaller businesses so I think she will like the reason we are going.
I would also like to have a talk with her mother, who from what I can understand, is losing her mind that she was not allowed into the wedding and very confused as to why she is not being allowed to book flights to Italy.
Her boyfriend right now is some American businessman and politician who has a distinct pattern. Four wives, all the same. Has a kid with them, gets tired of them, divorces them, pays them to go away and keeps living his life.
Andrej and I finally settle on a date for our meetings and I walk out, being greeted by a playful baby in my wife's arms and the baby's mother sitting next to them smiling.
She smiles up at me then hands the baby back to Milana, Andrej's crush. She stands up, saying bye to Milana and the baby before holding my hand and we walk out.
She has the tiniest little baby bump but it is the most adorable thing ever. I open her door like I always do and when I get into my side, she is looking down at her stomach. "Is it supposed to be that big?" she asks quietly, "I am only five weeks along and every picture I have seen, their bump is very small." she says, placing her hand on the little bump.
"It is probably normal, melodia. Those pictures might be a bit distorted as well, and the baby does have a lot of growing to do in little time." I say, rambling random shit to try to make her feel better.
She nods, "Or Sof was right and it's going to be a huge freaking baby," she jokes, making me laugh.
I tell her of my plans to go to America and she seems very excited. She wants to see her father, she is excited to visit this restaurant-like place and all. We cannot stay for long because the week we have to go is the same week we have our next appointment for the baby.
