I will be fine, I repeat to myself in my head over and over again, but still not believing it.
I am sleeping alone in our room tonight since we get married tomorrow and we're not allowed to sleep in the same room or see each other tomorrow at all until the ceremony.
I just about finish my night routine when there is a knock at the door. I swear if that is Matteo trying to sneak his way back in, I will panic. I will allow him in but we will get a crazy scolding from mamma tomorrow.
But I open the door to find my sister and her fiancée. Their wedding isn't for another few months.
"What are you two doing here?" I ask them, hugging them both.
"Well, Matteo informed us how much you hate sleeping alone so we thought we would do surprise sleepover," Allegra explains with a smile, making me awe.
They're so sweet. I welcome them into our room and show them around. Laura decides she will sleep on the couch leaving Allegra and I the bed.
"We will let you sleep since you have a very long day tomorrow," Laura tells me, throwing the blanket over herself on the couch but she throws it too much and her legs are no longer covered by the blanket.
I can tell she is struggling, so I laugh, getting up out of bed and cover her properly with the blanket and kiss her on the forehead.
"Buonanotte sorellina," I tell her, making her smile. (Goodnight little sister)
"Buonanotte," she says.
I get back into bed, Allegra is already asleep so I lay down next to her and do everything in my power to fall asleep quickly.
What ended up working was grabbing a sweater of Matteo's that smells like him and placing it over my pillow while I was also hugging my pillow.
It sounds like a problem that I can't sleep without him but we're getting married so it is a manageable problem with a very easy solution.•••••
As soon as we woke up, everyone helped me pack everything I need and they rushed me out of the house in order to make it to the venue by 9 am.
Thankfully, my wedding planner is amazing and I know I can trust her with everything and the caterers are not really caterers, they are the team of chefs that work at the house on special occasions so I know I can trust them and if there is a problem, they come to me or Matteo.
I am sat in a chair, a pretty woman starts on my face while a man starts on my hair. I asked him to do something very simple yet pretty and he smiled at me and said he would take perfect care of me.
I asked the same thing of the makeup artist and she agreed, starting on my makeup and the entire time we were having a discussion on what products I normally use when I do my own makeup.
She did judge me for some of them and recommended products that she said were better and from the way she did my makeup, I trust her and I will look them up tomorrow.
Her team is working on the other girls and the hairstylist team is doing the same.
"What headpiece is she wearing?" the hairstylist asks, and mamma pulls out this box.
She opens it and carefully pulls out the tiara she had told me about, covered in diamonds, absolutely stunning, and literally perfect. I smile as the hairstylist allows mamma to carefully place it on my head.
The girls go in one at a time to change into their bridesmaids dresses and we all watch as they take their turn to have their moment to come out all dressed up.
Their dresses are all different shades of green, most of them a sage light green. I gave them a color scheme and allowed them to pick their own dresses.
And I know that the groomsmen all have pink pocket squares.
Finally, it is my turn to change into my dress. I go into the room, mamma coming in with me to help me zip it up.
I put it on and just like the first day I put it on, I loved it. I genuinely believe it was made just for me.
She zips it up for me and we walk out, me going first so everyone in the room can see it.
I notice my wedding planner, Emily, and her assistant Marco have entered the room. "Hi Em," I tell her. She smiles but I can tell she is very worried. "What's wrong?" I ask her.
"So small little problem, there are random people outside trying to take a peak at the wedding, which we expected, we locked the gates and your security is doing an amazing job at keeping them away from the gates, but there is a woman claiming to be your mother trying to get in saying she has a right to be here because she is related you and she has a guy with her," she says, a weird look on her face the entire time.
I roll my eyes and let my head fall back, "Do not let her in, she was not invited, and I can guarantee you that I have never met this man she is with," I tell Emily and she nods.
She sighs, sounding relieved, "Okay because I saw the list and I thought 'I do not think she invited her mother' and it was confusing me and I thought I messed up and she seems like a piece of work," she says, whispering the last part to me, making me laugh.
"She is," I respond, making her laugh as her. Her and Marco exit the room as my dad walks in.
He looks at me, smiling and almost tearing up, "Sei bellissima, principessa. Sono così felice per te." he says, hugging me. (You are beautiful, princess. I am so happy for you.)
"Grazie," I tell him, smiling and hugging him back.
I am very happy. I thought I would be nervous today but I am not. It's hard to be nervous when it's pure excitement. I cannot believe I am getting married today, it is a dream come true, and with everything that has happened, I have come to learn that I deserve for my dreams to come true.
I have a fiancé that loves me and I love him, a wonderful and happy life, in-laws that are amazing and I love them, a sister and brother who I love so much, a dad who cares about me.
Today will be great and I will be going home with my husband.
"Time for pictures!" Evelyn squeals, peeking her head into the room then walking out.
Everyone walks out with me and the photographer takes us to get some pictures. We will be doing more later because I need to do some with Matteo, but for now this will be it. And the photographer will be taking candid shots at the wedding and reception.
When we finish with pictures, Evelyn takes us back to the room, "You guys have ten minutes before we go out there," she says.
Ten minutes. Last ten minutes before my wedding.
"I'm hungry," I say, making Laura sigh.
"I told you to bring yourself some food just in case," she scolds me, but I roll my eyes.
"I thought I was going to be nauseous and not want to eat," I tell her.
She stands up, making her way over to her things and pulling out a container. She opens it to reveal slices of pizza that look warm still.
I gasp and she walks over to me, starting to feed me the pizza very carefully so I won't get my hands or dress dirty.
"I know you better than you do," she says, as I chew the last bite of pizza she gave me.
I nod. I love pizza.
"Thank you," I tell her. I spend a few minutes just walking around the room while everyone talk to me and each other.
I don't think I can sit in this dress just out of fear of getting it dirty.
There is a knock on the door and Evelyn peeks her head in, "It's time," she says.
Everyone walks out before me, my dad and I going last.
Matteo is already in there with mamma, but as we go out, the bridesmaids meet with their groomsmen and they all go one at a time. Then finally, Emily signals us to go.
We go in, 'Video Games' by Lana Del Rey is playing as I slowly approach Matteo.
Everyone is staring at me, but I am staring at Matteo. He looks like he is about to start crying.
By the time I get to him, there are two tears going down his face. The music slowly quiets until it is completely silent, the officiant begins speaking but I almost cannot pay attention as I am staring at Matteo.
He's crying. In public. He's finally showing some emotion. I'm so proud.
He wipes one tear and I wipe the other, he takes my hand and kisses my palm. "Matteo Emilio Rossi.." the officiant says, continuing until it is Matteo's turn to speak.
"I do," He says, his italian accent strong.
The officiant nods and continues with me, "Aria Rosalyn Marino," he starts.
When he finishes, I say, "I do,".
We place the rings on each others fingers, my wedding band is a simple thin gold band that allows my engagement right to shine beautifully. His is a thicker band, also gold, and stands out on his muscly hand.
The officiant asks for any objections and all the guards in the room take their guns off of safety at the same time. No one speaks, the room is quiet enough to hear a pin drop, and the officiant names us man and wife.
Matteo grabs me by the waist, pulling me flush against him, attacking my lips with his. The kiss seemed desperate, as if he had been waiting decades for it.
Cheers erupted throughout the room, and Matteo did not stop kissing me until I was giggling and we were both struggling to breathe.
He grabbed my hand in his and we both walked back down the aisle smiling and laughing as everyone clapped.
As we exited the hall, the doors closed behind us as everyone else was to be escorted out of a different direction to the reception hall.
Matteo and I are to have our own room to spend time alone after the ceremony so we can change and get ready for the reception, and we don't really need anyone else since I am keeping my makeup and hair the same.
"I can call you my wife now," Matteo says, cutely and excitedly.
I smile, cupping his face in my hands as he is leaned down to eye level and his hands are on my waist.
He leads us to the room where it appears our siblings have made us cute little set ups with snacks and balloons.
"What do you need to do?" he asks me.
"I just need to change my dress. Can you help me unzip this one?" I ask. I take the tiara off and place it in the box. I'll out it back on when it's time to go into the reception hall.
He nods, turning me around and pulling the zipper down to reveal my bare back. I didn't have to wear a bra with this dress.
I try to talk away, but he pulls me back, running his warm hand down my exposed skin, making me shiver.•••••
