•Matteo Rossi•

I lay in bed holding my sweet wife's belly while she is still asleep. She is now 12 weeks pregnant with our twin babies and I could not imagine anything cuter. She has this little pregnancy glow and her bump is the most adorable thing ever.
I have stayed home the most I could to be with her but some things just need to be taken care of, however I always come home as soon as I can.
"Tua madre è la persona più bella di questo pianeta. Ti amo così tanto, bambini," I mumble to her belly. The twins are still weeks, even months away from being able to hear but I still love talking to them. (Your mother is the most beautiful person on this planet. I love you so much, babies.)
Aria mumbles something, moving positions on the bed, putting her hands in my hair. I smile to myself, laying down next to her and kissing her on the cheek.
She blinks multiple times, waking up, "Hi, lovey," she says quietly, hugging me, then throwing the tiny blanket off of her legs. She gets hot very easily now so she refuses to sleep under the covers and just uses a tiny blanket.
"Good morning, sweetheart," I say, brushing her hair out of her face. She smiles, "How do you feel?" I ask her.
"Pretty good right now," she says, shrugging, then kissing me on the cheek. Then, she sniffs my shirt and neck, "You smell good." she says, snuggling me. I smile, one arm around her and the other on her belly. "Do you still love me?" she asks suddenly, her head snapping up to look at me.
She asks silly questions all the time, "Of course I do, sweetheart, I always will," I say, kissing the top of her head.
She shrugs, "Just checking," she says. After a few more minutes of cuddling, I get up to go shower. "Where are you going?" she asks me, keeping a hand on my arm.
"Shower," I say. She gets up with me, then joins me in the shower. She has been very clingy lately but I love it.
She blasts her music the entire time and dances around while we shower and I think it's adorable.
As we are in the closet getting ready, she says, "I am going shopping today,".
"Do you want me to go with you?" I ask her.
She shakes her head, "You don't have to. I know you have work, I was just going to take Theo and Aldo with me." she shrugs. Those are usually the guards I send with her everywhere. I know they will keep her safe no matter what.
She wears a skirt that goes down to her ankles along with a short sleeve shirt. "What are you looking for today?" I ask her, referring to her shopping trip.
"A dress for the ceremony. None of the ones I have fit my bump, at least the ones that would be appropriate for an event like this," she frowns, showing me how her skirt has an elastic band at the top and that is the only way it fits her baby bump.
The ceremony is for her to be presented as donna. I wanted to wait until after she gives birth but apparently it needs to happen within the four months that follow the wedding. So now, we just want to get it over with as soon as possible.
I give her my card and she kisses my cheek, saying her goodbye before leaving.
I already miss her. I was considering canceling my meeting to stay home with her and then to go shopping with her but I know if she finds out I had canceled another meeting to spend more time with her she would have been upset.
I head to my meeting to try to make it on time. Once I do make it, I meet up with Aless and Allegra.
The meeting is going well, our next weaponry and narcotic shipments are on time and everything seems to be going smoothly.
Halfway through the meeting, one of the guards I sent with Aria calls me. That alone is enough to worry me so I excuse myself into the hallway and take the call.
"Capo, Mrs. Rossi is missing," he says. My brain and heart stopped, I think.
There is no way. No one in Italy is stupid enough to do anything to my wife, they know what I would be willing to do to find her. That is what everyone online gushes about, how in love I am with her.
There is no way someone took her, only a fucking idiot would do that.
"What the fuck do you mean my wife is missing?" I ask, my voice coming out rough.
"She went into the ladies room, said she would be five minutes, and that time passed so we asked the female manager to check in on her and she says that her purse is in there but she is not, there is no one in there," he explains to me.
"I will be right there," I say, hanging up the phone. I run back into the meeting room, "Alessandro, Allegra, andiamo," I say. They look at me confused but stand quickly and follow me out of the room.
"Fratello, che cos'è?" Aless asks me, sounding genuinely worried.
"Someone took Aria," I say, bolting down the stairs, them following quickly. They all get into my car and I speed off to where she was shopping. "Allegra, try to track her phone, they say her purse was there but maybe she had her phone in her pocket." I tell her, handing her a laptop to the backseat.
She opens it and starts typing as Aless asks me, "What happened?"
"They say she went to the bathroom, she said she would come out in a few minutes and when she didn't, they sent someone in there to check and they said she was gone but her purse was not," I explain to him, my breath picking up heavily.
I need to figure this out right fucking now. I need my wife safe and in my arms as soon as fucking possible.
When we get there, we go to the security room and they pull up the cameras from the store she was in.
Obviously, there are no cameras in the bathrooms, however there is one right outside the bathroom.
She goes in and Theo waits outside along with Aldo. A few minutes go by and a clinking sound is heard, which catches their attention and they check their watches.
Then, they catch the attention of a female worker before asking her to go in there, which she does, but when she comes back, only Aria's purse is in her hands, no sign of Aria herself.
"Matteo, which store was that in?" Allegra asks me. Once I tell her, she makes her way over there. I can see her live on the security camera and she calls me so we can have a conversation, then walks inside the restrooms, "Matteo, are there not tunnels in these stores?" she asks me, and I can hear her tapping on the walls.
"Maybe," I reply, typing, "But even if there were, only people within the mafia know about those," I say. There is a clanking sound on the other side of the phone.
"Was Aria wearing a bow in her hair today?" she asks me.
I know she was, I can memorize everything about her in an instant, "Yes, it was a light pink to match her skirt. She would never match her bow to her top she says it is too close to each other," I tell her.
"Well, I found a light pink bow at the entrance to this tunnel. Rewind the security tapes and see who entered the bathroom before her. Her phone was not in her purse, so I will go back and keep tracking her from there. I will see if I can tap into her phone camera through Instagram." she says, hanging up the phone. I see her though the camera come out of the bathroom with my wife's bow in her hand.
I can't fucking wait for anyone else to figure this out, I have to do something. I walk outside to the exit of the tunnel that Allegra was talking about and on the floor against the wall is her wedding band.
I take it in my hand and go back inside. "It had to have been an inside job," Aless says when I get there, "Who else knows about those tunnels?" he asks.
"Yes but it could not have been someone who regularly does business dealings. This was someone who has no experience doing something like this. There were cameras, evidence. Did we leave any DeMarco men alive?" Allegra asks as she is still trying to hack into Aria's phone.
The security on that phone is amazing. Allegra did it herself.
"No we did not. And it had to have been a woman," I tell her, "Their wives!" the idea pops into my head in an instant. "We were offered marriage proposals by their fathers multiple times, but we always declined. We knew they only wanted the money, and they settled for the DeMarco's but now they they are dead and cut off, they don't have that. How else could they think to get back at us? They lost everything." I say.
Allegra looks skeptical, "Those women are airheads. They could not think of something like this." she says. "But an airhead would be the type of person to not check the pockets of the person they are attempting to kidnap." she says, turning the laptop around so I can see it.
It is there, the moving location of my wife's phone.
The security guard rewinds the tape from outside the bathroom and it is all there, three DeMarco widows, walking into the bathroom together half an hour before my wife even arrived at the store.
I look at my wife's wedding band and her hair bow in my hands. "Andiamo," I say and they nod, following after me.
