The sun creeps up on my eyes to caress my lids, and I groan slowly opening them to see the light streaming through the window of the guestroom.
"Morning already?" I groan and prop myself up with a yawn, trying to shake off sleep before heading to the kitchen. I stir in my bed, feeling the warmth of the morning sun on my face. I slowly rise and slip out of bed in the sleepwear Lea had given me last night. I wander towards the kitchen, a delicious scent of pancakes wafting through the air. I find Lea already there, standing behind the stove with spatula in hand.
"Morning!" Lea chirps as I enter the kitchen. "I'm making pancakes for breakfast! Help yourself to what you'd like, it'll be ready soon." She smiles brightly and turns back to the stove.
My stomach rumbles in response and I smile gratefully at her before heading over to grab some plates, cups, and cutlery. I help Lea set the table and soon we are both sitting down, indulging in her delicious pancakes. We had pleasant conversations while eating breakfast, and before long it was time to part ways. It was time for me to figure out the problem at hand. Lea walks me to the front door, hugging me.
"Take care," she whispers as we reluctantly part. "And I mean it Estelle, you have me on speed dial. If anything goes wrong, call me immediately." She pleads, her voice filled with worry.
"Of course, you know I can stand my ground." I smirk trying to lighten up the mood. "If things get out of hand like last night, you're the first person i'll call."
Lea smirks at my words and nods. "Good, if you figure out what's going on with Fedorov let me know. You know I'm nosy." She laughs.
"I'll only tell you if it doesn't put you at risk." I state firmly, I'm not putting Lea at risk due to my own problems. Luckily Lea nods in understanding and I finally leave her place. After roughly thirty minutes, I get to my apartment complex.
The complex is empty and quiet, as usual. There are no signs of Fedorov or anyone else lurking around, which partially relieves me. Taking a deep breath, I walk up to my door and unlock it slowly. I cautiously enter my apartment, making sure everything is like I left it. Taking out my phone, I text Lea that I got home safely before settling down on my couch in my living room.
God, what a mess..
I sigh deeply. I know I have to confront Micha about this, but I can't believe he'd be connected with someone as horrible as Fedorov. I refuse to believe it. I decide to confront him tomorrow, and hope that he'll have some reasonable explanation. With a heavy heart, I eventually lay down on my couch staring at the boring grey ceiling. Tomorrow would be a long day. Hopefully it would bring the answers I was looking for.
I decide to stay home the rest of the day and have some fun cooking. I'm craving these muffins from a magazine and I need to try making them. I get out all my ingredients, preheat the oven, and mix the batter just how it said in the recipe. As they're baking, a mouthwatering aroma fills my kitchen, making me eager for them to be done. Finally, after what feels like hours of waiting anxiously, they are ready. I can't wait to dig in.
As I start tasting the muffins, my worries about Micha and Fedorov slowly fade away, replaced by the joy of having a baking adventure that was finally successful. I'm no stranger to cooking catastrophes - my kitchen has seen more disasters than a natural history museum. So it was nice to finally succeed for once.
The clock is ticking. I savor the delicious treats, trying to relax before I'm throwing myself back in front of the lions again tomorrow.
