"Finally."

I exhale in frustration as I return to my penthouse after everything that has happened. Bethany handled the aftermath of the raid so I didn't have to get involved much. Still, I wonder why one of my empty warehouses was raided. There was nothing valuable inside of that building, so why would a group of imbecile's try and steal from it?

A distraction maybe..?

All I know is that once I discover who was responsible for the ambush, they will not live to see another day, and I will ensure their demise is slow and agonizing. I groan softly, resting my hand on my lower abdomen. Hate to admit it, but if it weren't for Sparky's stubborn persistence, my wound would most likely have been more severe.

I make my way to the bedroom to change into something more comfortable before heading to my study, the room where I spend most of my time. Whether for business or solace, my study is the only place I can truly relax and take a breather. I let myself fall into my chair behind my desk, closing my eyes to try and enjoy the silence. My moment of peace is fleeting as my door suddenly bursts open, the doorknob banging against the wall and leaving a small dent.

"Hi boss!" a shrill, piercing voice reverberates through the room like a ping pong ball.

Oh for crying out loud..

"Bethany, lower your voice," I groan, clearly annoyed by her loud behavior. I should be used to it by now since she's been my assistant for years, but I digress. "Please tell me you found the imbeciles who tried to raid the warehouse."

Bethany glances at me from across the room, while she still stood in the doorway like a statue. "Ah, of course I did boss!" She chirps slowly strolling towards my desk.

"Then fucking tell me already." I reply impatiently. All I want to do is blow their heads off and use them as a damn lantern on Halloween. I might as well carve their ridiculous eyes out too while I'm at it.  In fact, I'll make a day out of it - a holiday, even. That sounds like a terrific idea.

"The people who tried to raid warehouse 470 on the east side and who ambushed us.." she pauses, raising a brow while giving me an unsure smile. "They're just nobody's boss." She shrugs her shoulder. "Not important at all."

"Not important, you say? Explain yourself." I reply, leaning forward in my chair.

"Well," she starts thumping her foot impatiently against the floor while contemplating how to voice it. "I managed to uncover their names boss but I'm not a hundred percent sure on it." She sighs. "I didn't exactly want to jump to conclusions right away. It's unethical, better to be sure and do some digging around first." she explains. I can see the gears turning in her head, her calculating expression.

I shake my head, a bit annoyed. "Right Bethany, why don't we have a fucking tea party while we're at it hm?" I sneer sarcastically. "You had a couple days to figure this shit out. Can you at least give me a damn adres of where they are situated?" I quip.

"Of course I can boss. It's an address located exactly on South Fourth Avenue."

I groan, rubbing my temple before settling back in my chair. "And let me guess, you didn't have enough time to figure anything else out?" I hiss. Bethany frowns and gives me an unsure yet worried expression.

"Boss, I don't know what's going on lately, but you've become more impulsive than usual."

"More impulsive? Are you kidding me?" I question rhetorically. "I'm the same as ever, Bethany."
