"Bethany close the door." Mallory speaks gently as she holds onto me. My hands grip tightly around her shoulders as she carries me in bridal style towards her bedroom. Despite everything that has transpired, we find ourselves in her penthouse. Mallory gently places me on her bed after Bethany closes the bedroom door with a soft click.

As I settle on Mallory's bed, the soft mattress cradles me, cocooning me in the velvety sheets. The tremors still reverberate through my core, causing me to quiver from within.

"Feeling Comfortable?" Her voice carries a gentle concern as she asks, It's unusual for her to show such tenderness towards me.

"Mhm." My lips purse together as I let out a soft hum, clutching onto the sheets that envelop me. It's hard to fathom what just occurred. The reality of being kidnapped and kind of being assaulted still lingers, and I can't shake the memory of that woman's fist connecting with my jaw. My jaw is still sore. My eyes follow her while she slowly sits down on the edge of the bed.

"What happened?" She asks.

I avert my eyes, but she softly grasps my chin, prompting me to meet her gaze.

"What happened, Sparky?"

I let out a deep sigh. "Honestly, I have no idea. I was just minding my own business, working my usual hours. Next thing I knew, I was on my way home and suddenly found myself blindfolded and thrown into a car."

"Did anyone else approach you?" Mallory asks. Her presence sends shivers down my spine, yet somehow puts me at ease. The sudden ring of her phone shatters the silence, prompting Mallory to jump up from the bed. "I need to take this."

"Wait!" I quickly react, lunging forward to snatch her hand, feeling like a frightened child. "Do you have to pick that up? Do you have to leave the room?" My heart races as I ask in a panic, my body instinctively jumping into fight or flight once again. Mallory is taken aback by my reaction, but she eases the tension in her body as she holds her phone in one hand and places her other hand on mine.

"I'll be right back Sparky, you're safe here okay?" She states softly and puts my hand down onto the bed before turning on her heel and walking out the room.

She's injured as well..

I think to myself when I lay back down. Mallory turned my world upside down. Before her, my biggest concern was running out of foundation or coffee. With a heavy heart, I find myself burdened by the constant fear of being abducted or worse. Letting out a deep sigh, I muster the strength to slowly rise from the bed, feeling the lingering pain in my face, and wrists from the restraints.

Those damn zip ties seriously.

As I take each step, my feet guide me towards the dark wooden door. With utmost care, I gently push it open, allowing myself a glimpse inside. I find Mallory and Bethany standing in the inviting open space of the kitchen and living room.

"Boss you know George is not going to be happy, after you killed his daughter." Mallory receives a gentle reminder from the assistant, but she simply shakes her head in response.

"He knew what would happen if any of his people crossed me." She responds with a casual flick of her lighter,  and lights up a cigarette. The smoke surrounds both of them like a fog. "Besides," Mallory casually walks over to the kitchen cabinet and retrieves a first aid kit. "If George decides to be a pain, then I'll just deal with him as well."

"Boss, you can't kill everyone on a whim." Bethany counters crossing her arms.

"Says who?" Mallory scoffs.
