God this is going to be a long couple days.

It's been two days now and I've never felt so awkward in my own home. Although Mallory and I had found common ground in our love for movies, there was something holding us back from truly connecting. Oh right, the fact that she almost hurled me off a bridge.

I take a deep breath, my gaze lingering on the tasks before me. Folding laundry. Doing more chores than usual to keep my mind preoccupied and distracted - anything to distract from her presence. Then Mallory appeared, unannounced and without a word. Her eyes washed over the room with an intensity I'd never seen before. She saunters over to me and stands behind me. I can sense her presence and it's driving me wild. I let out a gentle exhale of surprise when I suddenly feel her head, forehead to be exact, nestle on my shoulder from behind.

"Can I help you?" I ask, trying to stay focused on my tasks.

"Yeah, you can," she replies with a heavy breath. I feel her breath warming the side of my neck and a soft peck of her lips on my skin.

"You're still not getting in my pants Mallory."

A loud groan sounds from the crook of my neck and I can't help but hold in a snicker. "Come on Elin, seriously."

I turn around to face her, taken aback by the vulnerability in her gaze. "What is it?" I ask softly, I step closer to her and tilt my head back slightly to look up at her. Mallory cups my face in her hands, her gaze drifting from my eyes to my lips. "Your wounds," I blurt out out of the blue. "Let me take a look at them."

"Elin, I'm okay," she protests calmly with a slight tone of annoyance.

"Just go sit down and shut up, let me check your bandages." I state crossing my arms and glaring at her.

Mallory rolls her eyes and huffs slightly before she shuffles over to sit down on the couch. I sigh at her attitude, though it's not unexpected. I carefully unwind the bandage around her waist to inspect the wound. It looks nasty, but thanks to Kirsi's tending and suturing, it's slowly healing.

I place the new clean bandage around her waist, applying pressure to the wound as I secure it. "Alright then, that should do it. The wound seems to be healing very slowly," I murmur, assessing my work. "I need to work tonight so I won't be here." My words must of rubbed her right the wrong way because Mallory immediately glares at me.

"No."

"What do you mean 'no'?" Rolling my eyes I sit down across from Mallory on my little living room table and look at her. "Not everyone is filthy rich like you are." I add in defeat.

Mallory looks away, biting her lip and for the first time I see her shifting uncomfortably in her seat. "I know." she murmurs quietly before looking back at me with an almost apologetic expression.

I sigh and let the silence linger between us for a moment before finally breaking it with a soft smile on my face. "It's fine." I murmur softly. "Just...take care of yourself, okay? I worry about you."

A smirk pulls at the corners of Mallory's lips. "My Elin, worried? About me?" She grins smugly and it sparks an urge in me to kick her right on her injury.

Don't do it Estelle, she's annoying we've been through this.

"Whatever, anyways," I say "you'll be here for the next two weeks so I suggest getting used to not having an assistant." I beam amusedly. "Time to do your own shit."

"I'm not staying two weeks." She abruptly cuts me off and it leaves me startled.

"What?"

"I said I'm not staying here for two weeks, Elin," Mallory says as she ignites a cigarette. It's only been two days, but already her smoky scent has filled my living room. Without my scented candles and Febreze it would smell like an ashtray in here.

"What? Didn't you hear what my sister told you? You need to rest in order for this—" I frantically gesture towards her injuries. "to heal!"

Mallory shakes her head. "I'm leaving tomorrow, Elin. I got a call from Bethany earlier."

I scowl in disbelief. "You're injured Fedorov!? What in the world do you think you're doing?" She glares at me unimpressed and it feels like we never left step one. "Listen, get it through your thick skull that you need to rest!" I hiss.

Mallory holds my gaze before shrugging her shoulders and stoically reaching for her clean suit jacket I've washed. "I'm sorry, Elin, but I can't stay here any longer than that. Bethany and business need me."

"And when you get there, what then? Are you gonna be crippled like this?" I worry, struggling to comprehend why she's willing to take such a risk.

Well.. it's not that hard to believe..

Mallory takes in a breath and her shoulders deflate. "I'll be fine, Elin. I know how to look out for myself. You don't have to worry."

If you knew how to take care of yourself, you wouldn't of been on my doorstep looking like a beat up piñata before passing out.

I purse my lips, knowing I won't get the response that I want from her. She will always put business before anything or anyone. Before I know it, I find myself grabbing the sleeve of her jacket.

Why did I..

I look up, and her face is a mask of surprise. For the first time, I can read her feelings so clearly. "At least stay for a couple days longer?"

Oh my god am I seriously asking her to stay?!

Mallory stares at my hand for a moment before placing her own on top. A small smile tugs at the corner of her lips as she turns her head away.

"Alright, I'll stay...for now."

I can't help but feel relieved. I quickly take my hand away, smile and say "good."

Mallory nod and turns to me. She stretches for a moment before heading towards my bedroom. She turns back to me, head slightly tilted as if she's considering something. The corner of her lips curl into a smirk as she finally speaks.

"You see Elin, you said no sex." She starts. "But how about a shower?"

I'm stunned by her bold suggestion, I stare at her and process what she just said.

"Are you seriously trying to still get me naked?" I squint curiously.

"Depends," her gaze roved over my body, a hint of flirtatiousness in her eyes. "is it working?" Her lips curved into a whimsical smile as she moved her focus back to me. Her eyes locked with mine, an intensity building between us. I let out a deep sigh and shake my head slowly approaching her.

"You're such a fucking pervert Mallory, fine but were not fucking in the shower."

"Oh come on!"
