I never thought I'd ever see my sister again, yet here she is, on the back of an electric bike with John B. My heart flutters in excitement, but my feet stay rooted to the ground in complete shock. Then, the reality of our situation comes back to light and the moment is over.
"Get in! Get in! Get in! Come on!" John B yells.
"Get in!" Sarah calls to us from the back seat. Kiara and I pile in beside her while JJ and Pope go to the rear. They push all their body weight onto the bike, pushing us along to quicken our pace.
"Push! Push! Push, Pope!" JJ urges him.
"Pedal faster, John B!" Sarah calls to her boyfriend.
"Oh my God!" Kiara shrieks in delight.
"This is absolutely insane!" I cry out. I wrap my arms around my sister and my eyes water with joy. I'm never letting her go ever again.
"Go, John B! Go!" JJ yells. "Come on, Pope! Push! Come on! Pedal, B! He's gaining!"
"I'm pedaling!"
"He's gaining, man."
"Oh my God!" Kiara yells as Pope trips and falls on the pavement. He rolls over and hurries back onto his feet, but the guard isn't far from him.
"Pope, get up! Let's go!" John B calls back. Kiara reaches out and grabs Pope's hand with hers, helping him onto the bike. He clings onto the side. I feel a hand grab onto my shoulder and I turn to see the guard trying to get up onto the bike.
"Ew! Get off of me!" I exclaim. JJ comes to my rescue, punching the man in the face. He tumbles to the ground and eventually gives up the chase. The whole group cheers in celebration.
"See you later, alligator!" JJ says, waving at the man teasingly.
"See you later, asshole. Oh my God!" Pope cheers, pounding his fist into the air happily.
John B and Sarah lead us to where their boat is parked. We ditch the bike, fill the boat with gas and with the help of JJ and Pope, finally head home. The entire boat ride was full of story telling and catching up from both John B and Sarah, and the rest of us.
So, to recap: John B and Sarah did end up sinking the Phantom in the ocean. JJ wasn't too happy, but he got over it quickly. The couple was picked up by a large ship headed to the Bahamas, but word of John B's warrant for arrest had already made its way there.
They hid at a hotel down there which is when John B texted us via a stolen phone. John B and Sarah had desperately tried to retrieve the gold, but unfortunately, my father and Rafe were too slick. The Pogues had been so close and yet the Cameron's were always one step ahead of them. In the process, my sister was shot on the left side just below the ribcage by none other than my dear brother, Rafe. John B reluctantly told the story of how her heart stopped. He was certain that she was gone. To know that I could've lost my sister, for real this time, and wouldn't have known feels ironic.
We arrived back in Kildare the following morning. I had been too seasick to sleep through the night and Sarah was in too much pain to fall asleep either. So, us two sisters stargazed at the stern while the boys rotated manning the boat.
"I've missed you every second of every day since you've been gone," I told her.
"I've missed you too, Stell," she replied. When it was JJ's shift, he came up front and checked on us.
"Hey, why aren't you two asleep? Sarah, I mean, you got shot. Surely you need your rest," he said.
"The lack of anesthesia is hitting me like a truck," Sarah explained.
