I woke up with a start. Excitment running though my veins, as i prepared for my day at the facility. Humans. I would see real living humans again, getting to talk to them and share my horrible experiance. I hoped in my heart I'd find someone with a similar outlook as myself to being kidnapped and taken to this strange world.
In the small living room I spy a space craft waiting outside on the lawn. It was the size of a trailer house, with sleak jagged edges.
"Is that for me?" I ask one.
"Yes it is time to leave now. You will have an escort to and from the facility." She says as she begins to usher me through the door, handing me a sealed mask to go over my face. The automatic clear door that lead outside instantly opened when we neared it, the key pad lighting up from the order. The walk was silent, the escort not uttering a word as he watched us approach. I had a better view of the landscape beyond my little vantage point in the house, noticing rolling baren hills in the distance, the house was positioned atop a large flat hill.
"Come now. You'll see more on the ride." One says
"Is this world mostly barren land?" I ask as I enter the craft.
"Yes." She answers back.
True to one's words most of the terrain I saw was barren. Blue green splotches showing up sporadically here and there on the otherwise bage terrain. The flight was short, only taking about an hour or so, it felt like an eternity to me however. A large building could be seen coming up in the distance, larger then any other I'd seen on the trip so far. It was square and plain on the outside, colored white it almost looked like a prison, if it weren't for the massive increase in greenery surrounding it I might have guessed that was its purpose. There were no other buildings surrounding it, only a large landing strip to the side with little colored dots scattered throughout.
"Don't tell me thats the building." I say pointing out the large structure.
"It is. Is there a problem with it?" She asks me.
"No. I only asked because it's so plain" I say.
"It was built for functionality with security as a focal point." One says
'The mech cant let their precious herd get eaten by wolves. Or escape.' I think bitterly.
"Why security. What kind of threat would the mech possibly worry about?" I ask.
"Their is internal conflict on the presence of the humans. Many mech are against you being brought into there society." One says.
No one had told me this before, but I supposed it made sense some of the mech would be against mating outside their own race. But would they go so far as to really attack the facility? I continue to ponder this new peice of information as we land on the landing dock.
I savor the feel of the sun beating down on my skin as we make our way inside. I had been locked indoors for too long. The breeze ruffles my long brown hair, tickling my neck. I giggle to myself, practically bouncing with energy, ready to socialize again. The guard leaves myself and one at the entrance, quickly turning back to the plain before we even make it through the doors.
"There are many activities te facility holds. Would you like me to name a few that are going on now?" One asks me as we start to make our way inside. The structure was an opulent open concept, somewhat resembling an indoor mall, the feel being completly different from the outside. It was painted in warm human colors with art depicting human culture littering the walls. We round a corner that opens up into an even larger open space with stairs in the middle that lead to a balcony. There were doors everywhere in the space, people and merchandise poking out from them. Humans there were female humans everywhere, milling about, going from one door to the next. Many smiled at me or waved as they passed us.
"Right now or in the near future there will be a group therapy with a specialized mech, volleyball in the court, dancing lessons, massage therapy on the second level...." She goes on, the list starting to sound more like a resort list.
"Massage?" I cut her off.
"Performed by robotics made for the purpose" She says
I could deffinatly get down with a massage, but I had a purpose in mind. I wanted to talk to some fellow humans. I hated to admit it but group therapy sounded like the best option out of the list to interact with people. I sighed.
"Sign me up for that group therapy." I say as we continue our walk. The sights of the facility bringing me to an awestruck awareness as I continue to take in it opulence.
"Your spot has been reserved." She says "it will begin in one hour. Would you like to shop until then?" She asks me.
"Who's paying for all this?" I ask
"Your mate. You have been allotted an allowance for each visit of 50 million crunts." She says
"Is that a lot?" I ask
"It should be sufficient for your stay." She says, the response not really helping me in the least.
The entire facility seemed to be paved with marble, with carved pillars dotting the open area. Even the fountain in the middle of the space was carved from marble, the beautiful face of the woman holding an ern shining in the bright lights. A shop grabs my attention from my perefrial vision, the bright colors of the clothing catching my eyes. The front of the shop read 'clothing'. Well they liked to keep it simple I supposed.
"Let's go there" I say to one, and we begin to make our way.
"Hey there" a young woman quickly greets me from the racks of clothing.
"I havent seen your face before. I'm amy." She holds out her hand to shake. I shake it gladly. That name sounded familiar. I remembered roge speaking about his mate, her name being Amy.
"You wouldn't happen to be roges mate would you?" I ask not believing the coincidence.
"You know my mate?" She asks bewilderment taking over her fetures.
"I should probably introduce myself first. Hi I'm megan" I say
"OH my gosh megan. Yes roge told me about you! It's a pleasure to meet you!" She says happily.
"I just can't believe I met you so soon. I just arrived her. First timer." I say
She laughs while continuing to riffle through the clothing. "Well I'm happy to be your guide if you need one." She says
"Yes please, but another time maybe. I signed up for group therapy in an hour." I say
"Those are always a mess. Just a bunch of crying girls, but I understand if your busy now. How about afterwards? We have all day." She says
I gladly except the offer and we make plans to meet back in the same shop in three hours. We continue to happily chat about our lives back on earth before one informs me its time to head to therapy session.
"That's a nice android you got there." She says eyeing one.
"Thanks" I say awkwardly adding "she's my caretaker of sort"
She whistles. "Yep really nice. I wish I had one of those. I'd probably take it apart though to study it." She laughs then.
"Are you good with technology?" I ask curiously.
"I know my way around some tech, but nothing like the high-grade stuff they have around here. Their technology blows ours out of the water." She says
"We will be late if we continue our stay in this shop." One says
I frown up at her. "Sorry Amy. Gotta go. I'll see ya later." I wave by and she does the same.
"See ya megan" She says
Amy was right about the group therapy session being full of crying girls. One of them was even crying before she set foot into the room, but I found it beneficial to listen to their stories. It made me feel less alone.
"When he showed me his true form I didn't know what to do... I just say there in a daze. What was I supposed to do? I was so shocked I almost pissed my pants." One of the girls said. A new Comer like myself.
"Then he... he told me about the mating ritual... and I didn't want to do it. I didn't want to come to this strange planet so I said no.... and that's when he..." She couldn't bring herself to finish the rest of it. We all sat in silence for a moment waiting on her to continue. "Anyways I thought this might help." She finally said.
I could feel my insides well up. How many of these girls were like me? Forced into a situation they didn't want?
The therapist then turns to another girl prompting her to speak. The space surprisingly felt safe, the mech continously uttering reassurances. When I finally told my story, albeit a shorter version, one of the girls leaned over and put a hand on my knee, giving it a firm squeeze.
"Your not alone" She said. The small gesture brought tears to my eyes as I took her hand and squeezed back.
"Thank you" I said.
The session came to an end with tears in everyone's eyes. Tissues were being handed out by androids. One of the girls approach me at the end of the session.
"Your mate sounds like a real prick." She said
"He is" I agreed.
