It was time for my meeting with the council members and the queen. The council chambers were on the otherside of the planet, the shuttle ship taking half a day to reach it. The outside of the building had large archways, open to the elements, it was another old building, it stunk of mildew and weeds, ailign hated this place.
"My prince" a guard greets him with a bow, but he ignores the man as he walks on, determined to get to his destination quickly, wanting to observe those in attendance before the council began.
'My prince" comes another servent, ailign walks past, now in the inner chambers he was close.
Ailign takes his seat at one of the tables in the front. The room was styled after a stadium, with teared seating ailign sat at the bottom. Ailign unbuckled his cloak, pulling it off and to the side, rain drops splotched off it and onto the bench. There were many mech males in attendance, some appearing to be nobles from there clothing, but the majority wore normal attire or uniforms. Good, he would need to appeal to the people today.
The council were already seated, facing out toward the crowd, ailign scowled as he was sitting near his least favorite of the council members. Lord rubric was an old cunning man, with one leg in the grave and the other up the queens ass. Ailign had troubles keeping up with all of the lords current scemes to gain more power.
Ailign watched the rest of the progression in silence, the seremonial opening boring the young prince. At the end, his mother finally made her appearance at the top of the room, making her way slowly down to the very middle of the council.
"Now we will begin" his mother spoke, she was regaliant in her battle uniform, gold dust floating up and around her in small waves, she exuded power.
Lord rubric spoke next "we have a proposed change to the recently passed laws regarding the humans rights, along with a petition of all the mech males who wished to come forward to support this motion." He said.
The queens brow furrowed then. 'She must not have known about the petition'. Ailign thought to himself.
"We will vote on each proposed change one law at a time. Now first law: the humans right to hold..." rubric said
"I would like to make my statement before the council votes, which is my right." I say, standing in my seat, unable to stand to listening to these old petty coats any longer.
"Go ahead" says another council member
"These humans are not our property but our mates, the mothers of our children. As a people we wish for families, and these rights take away some of our rights, as males to protect our families, our mates. I have made several proposals but know that each one that doesn't pass doesn't just hurt the humans, but hurts there mech counterpart." I say as I then take my seat, finished with my speech. Some of the mech males in the audience rile, pumping there fists, and chanting. The queen rises and silence falls back on the chamber.
"Thank you my son. Now we will continue." She says
Rubric clears his throat then begins again "the first law: the humans right to hold onto land on the mech planet."
The meeting felt like it went on and on to ailign, the proposed list being lengthy it took a long moment to get through them all. In the end much didn't change, but some good came out of it, humans could now have basic jobs on the mech planet, as well as travel to most planets with there mates. There were still heavy restrictions, but ailign wouldn't let his small victory be overshadowed by every proposal that did not get approved.
Lord rubric came to ailign after the hearing was over with, trying to worm his way into his good graces no doubt.
"My prince!" Rubric said
"I am sorry rubric but I'm afraid I must go" ailign says
"Matters of state or is it that mate of yours?" He asks, an eye brow raising
Furry rises in ailign "its none of your buiseness" ailign says, pushing past the man.
"I want you to know I only voted yes to some of those laws, because I was thinking of you and your plight." He says
Ailign stops in his tracks, turning on his heal he makes his way back to the man in two long strides "My human is not a plight" He says seething.
"Of course not" He says back wearily.
Ailign steels his nerve, regaining his stoic contanance.
"Good by now rubric" He says and turns.
Rubric bows "my prince"
"My prince!" A first commander runs up to me "new orders for a mission"

I didn't know how to approach ailign or if I wanted to. Jake? As a mate? Could I really still have him? I found the idea more appealing the longer I thought about it.  Ailign would never allow it. I lay there on my couch thinking things over in the silence, snuggled up in the covers, and a cool drink in hand.
"Megan, my prince is on the way to you" one says.
"Thank you one" I answer back
Ailign approaches then, making his way over to my little couch, pulling back the blue drapes and peering out the window on the way. In front of me he crosses his arms over his chest, I take a big breath ready for what he'll say.
"I have good news" He said
"So do i" I blurt out.
"You go first" He says
I feel myself tense up, not knowing if this was the right step or not but I had to at least know ailigns take on the possibility. Leaning up on my elbows, I meet his gaze.
"Jake wants to be my mate... my second mate" I say
Ailign goes very very still, his necklace breaks apart, a Crack going through the center, the fragments flying off and hovering in the air. Ailign quickly regains his stoic expression, putting a hand to his collar he fixes the identification neckles that reaches to his chin line.
"To except an inferior male as your second mate is an insult to the crown" ailign says
"Look." I say still watching the floating fragments, my eyes leaving them to look at ailign, his expression giving away nothing. "I haven't decided if I want to yet or not, but why's he inferior?" I say
"He's not royalty" ailign said
"Are you sure about that do you know anything about him?" I ask curiously
"His family are mechants" ailign explains "extremely rich merchants"
"Extremely rich is nice, but what just cause he's not a royal your gonna shot him down?" I ask
Ailigns face goes cold "if you want a second mate I can not stop you. It is the right of females, though you are not mechian. But I will be choosy on who or when you pick"
"I make the choices" I remind him.
"After delegation with myself. This will have an effect on me too." Ailign says
"Jake's filthy rich what's the problem?" I ask "money speaks more then blood"
"It's not just about blood it about connections megan." Ailign says
"Money can buy connections" I counter.
"True" ailign says "but I'm still not convinced he's bennificial for us"
"Us?" I ask incredulously
"Yes us, him mating with you is like forming an alliance with me. And what I want is competence and royal blood." Ailign says
"We don't need another you" I counter "plus you can always train jake"
"I'm still not convinced I won't approve, but I also won't disapprove. Let's him prove himself. You have a long time to choose a second mate." He said
"And not many to choose from, everyone else is waiting for the second generation." I counter.
"All good points" ailign says "but I'm not changing my mind. Ill kill him ifnyou mate him without my approval."
"Your taking this better then I thought" I say, killing threat asside.
"It's your right" He says "I will not get upset about that"
I was tempted to point out the fact he broke his neckles but I didn't want to start a fight. I bounce my joined hands on my lap before settling them in front of me.
"So what's your good news?" I ask curiously
"Were going on a trip" He says
