Joe is the God of Luck. As the decider of fates, he can be a very playful deity that likes to toy with those who ask for his help, like pretending to be stuck on a decision or appearing to favor one side before leaning towards the other.

He can have a say in one's fate, either switching it to favor that person or to turn against them. In this sense, people often pray to him for good luck on an upcoming event, like a game or a test, or even something more deadly. They also pray to him in hopes of affecting the luck of an adversary or two, which in turn improves their own luck. There's no rhyme or reason for who he chooses to improve or degrade the luck of - it can be as random as flipping his infamous coin and making a decision based on whichever side it lands on.

In this aspect, he often works in tandem with Wakiya, the God of Wealth, in assisting those who strive for greatness, and bringing down those who go after it the wrong way.

Luck can be finicky; it can be good or bad. Joe is often depicted wearing opposing colors as a way to symbolize this dual-sidedness.

As his coin is his possession, it carries some of his powers. If a human gets their hands on it, all they have to do is make a wish and flip it. If it lands on heads, their wish will eventually come true. If it lands on tails, something bad will happen instead.
