Laban is the God of Fortune. As the revealer of destiny, he acts as a very mysterious and tricky deity that almost never gives one a straight answer when they ask for a fortune. He never acts surprised when something happens, as he continually claims "I saw it first".

Laban is the only god, let alone person, who can see into the future with perfect clarity. He can look into the future at will and give a description based on the events that he saw. However, he likes to have fun with this particular power, often giving nonsense poems and prophecies that make it difficult for anyone to understand just what he saw.

His element makes him a very powerful deity, but it often puts him at odds with other gods who deal with time. Cuza, the God of Time, doesn't really like him, because he prefers for his time stream to remain unpredictable and based on a person's choices, not their destiny. Laban himself especially doesn't like Joe, the God of Luck, because he can influence a human's luck in order to change their fate, thus making Laban's predictions useless.

He believes that the pursuit of fortune should be free for all, so he leaves little messages throughout the Earth to help humans determine their destiny. Messages hidden in the movements of shadows, in the placement of rocks, in the wind currents, in the mirrored depths of crystals, in the trails of smoke. Those who can decipher these hidden messages of fate are called fortune tellers or gypsies, though only the truly devout call themselves "the Messengers of Laban".

He can also summon said tools in order to portray his prophecies.
