➷(25) A BET

Apparently the Crown Prince and Mu-deok made a bet that Uk could at least beat one of 10 Jeongjingak mages. His first duel was with Gu-hyo and Gu-hyo had won. That was embarrassing for Uk as Gu-hyo had just mastered Ryusu and still won.

4 mages gathered around him to talk about the gold toad he had won. Da-hye and Dang-gu were listening in to their conversation.

"You really won this gold toad." Beom told Gu-hyo.

"Of course, Uk may have managed to read Words of the Heart, but he is a bad swordsman." Gu-hyo responded.  Winning against Uk had given him too much confidence.

"What is going on?" Yul asked Dang-gu and Da-hye.

"The Crown Prince and Mu-deok made a bet over Uk." Dang-gu explained. "The Crown Prince brought gold toads, so everyone is eager to participate."

"The strongest mages are lining up to fight Uk after seeing that he had lost to Gu-hyo." Da-hye said.

The mages kept laughing at  Uk's failure. Da-hye could almost feel bad. How could Uk let himself be humiliated like that?

The Crown Prince was meeting up with his master, Assistant Gwanju Jin Mu. "I heard you have been visiting Sejukwon pretty often." Jin Mu said. "Is it because you wish to appoint Master Heo as your master and learn spells from him?"

"Do not be ridiculous." The Crown Prince responded. "You are my master. I am only going there for treatment. It allows me to get some fresh air. Not to mention, fun things happen there." The Crown Prince said. What he liked the most, was seeing Da-hye sometimes.

"You must enjoy hanging out with the mages of Songrim." Jin Mu said.

"I get to meet Yul, my cousin. Park Dang-gu is a lively person to be around. Park Da-hye is nicer than people say. She is also fun to be around. " The Crown Prince explained.

"As for Jang Uk, I would like to teach him a lesson, but it is not that easy. He seemed elated after having read Words of the Heart, so I put him back in his place today." The Crown Prince complained. "He lost to a mage who just mastered Ryusu. So people know his true competence now. People no longer admire him."

"I am glad." Jin Mu said. "But, you should be careful around, Young Lady Park. If Naksu managed to shift souls, she definitely shifted her soul into Park Da-hye's body." Jin Mu said. "It makes sense that Naksu would shift her soul into another female mage."

The Crown Prince furrowed his eyebrows. There was no way Da-hye could be Naksu, right? She would've made a move already.

But could he be right? Could Da-hye be Naksu?

Da-hye was practicing her swordsmanship. she was already very skilled, she was the second best Jeongjingak mage after Yul. Yul was considered a genius because his father was also one. Da-hye did not mind being the second best Jeongjingak mage, being a skilled mage hadn't really mattered to her up until a few years ago.

"Da-hye." she heard a familiar voice behind her, it was the voice of her uncle.

"Yes, Uncle?" Da-hye stopped what she was doing

"I need you to buy flowers with me." The leader said. Da-hye raised her eyebrow with confusion.

"For Maidservant Kim." The leader said. Da-hye smirked thinking he had finally admitted his feelings for her. "To show how much I care for her." The leader said.
