13: Backstory

I was on the verge of screaming.

"Can you please cooperate you stupid fucking hair!?" I yelled.

I attempted to style my hair one last time. I told myself that if my hair was going against me, I was going to cry.

Eventually, I styled my hair properly. I sighed in relief. I took one final look at myself before heading downstairs to the kitchen.

I ate my breakfast in a hurry since I was running late to school. All because of my damn hair and my alarm didn't go off.

The drive to my school was silent, I was used to it. I checked the time on my watch. "Five minutes late. Great."

As soon as my mother dropped me off I rushed into the school building. I knew that my first class of the day was Biology.

I noticed that several other students in my Biology class were also late. At least I wasn't the only one. My teacher excused us and we quickly made our way to our seats.

"Hello, Ara."

I stopped in my tracks. I turned to the right only to see Yeonjun staring at me.

"H-hi." I greeted him back with a small smile on my face.

I finally sat down. "This is going to be interesting." I thought to myself.

As the lesson went on I couldn't help but steal glances from Yeonjun. I was smooth with my glances as well, I didn't make it obvious that I attempted to look at him.

"Am I that pretty to look at?"

Shit. He noticed that I was looking at him from time to time. I couldn't comprehend how he figured it out. I thought I was being smooth with it! But turns out I wasn't.

"Maybe you are," I responded.

A smirk appeared on his face. He didn't say anything back. His focus was on my teacher. I was so embarrassed. I wanted to curl into a ball. I didn't want to exist anymore. I didn't want to be seen or known. Embarrassed was an understatement.

"I don't like Hoshi."

"Why not?" I asked Hyunjin.

"He just gives me weird vibes. He was also dating that popular girl, Hana."

I knew that information. Hoshi and Hana were a well-known couple in my school for a very long time until they broke up a few months ago.

It was alleged that Hana cheated on Hoshi with a classmate of hers. It was a big thing. Nobody expected such a thing to happen. I was pretty sure that Hoshi was still grieving the loss of his relationship.

Everyone could tell that he was madly in love with Hana until she broke his heart.

"So? What's wrong with dating Hana? Yes, she cheated on him and he left her."

Hyunjin couldn't think of a response to that question but he was still adamant about Hoshi being weird.

We reached our lockers and took out the books that we needed for the next few classes.

All of a sudden I heard a commotion in the hallway. I saw two guys arguing with each other until one of them threw a punch which ended up with both of them fighting each other.

Hyunjin and I stepped back and witnessed the rest of the students screaming and laughing. I hated being in such a predicament that didn't involve me of course.

Two teachers ended up breaking up the fight. All I saw was blood. My jaw dropped. Was it that serious? What were they arguing about in the first place?

Hyunjin grabbed my hand and dragged me to the next class.
