Sympathy

His pov:

"Oh look! It's a taco truck! Should we buy some"

She shook her head at me laughing "Sure Loki, can't believe you're still hungry,"

"Ahahah, do you want one, you didn't get to eat much cause you were talking the whole time"

"I was not! I was talking a normal amount" she nudged me playfully.

We head towards the truck and are met with a young scruffy looking guy, he looks down at Aurora and smiles "Hey what can I get you," he asks with a weird glint in his eyes.

"One taco please," Aurora answers him smiling. I look between the two and start to grow impatient at their lingering looks. I unconsciously start tapping my finger on the table as he talks to her while the food is being made. I can't even hear what he's saying, all I can see is her smile at him.

He extends the taco down towards us and Aurora reaches for it, frustratingly I grab the taco from him and mutter a 'thanks' before gabbing Aurora to leave.

Her Pov:

Why is he acting so weird, he got the taco. "Loki? Are you okay," he's walking so fast and still dragging me along by my arm. "Loki?"

He stops for a moment and sighs, "Sorry, I'm fine," he didn't look fine.

"Ah okay, how did you find dinner?"

"It was good...I told you they would bring it up" he smiles. There he is.

I laughed at him "Ahah yes you were right, so did you find any new information today?"

"Yeah actually, about that...I think I might need to go somewhere tomorrow"

"Okay where, I'll come with you,"

He stays silent for a moment and hesitates "Is it okay if I go alone?"

"Oh..yeah of course."

I wonder where he's going, what if something happens...what if he found how to go back...what if he never comes back. We head back home and continue talking but there's a weird tension that I think I created. My mind is still wondering of all the potential things he could be doing and what might happen, I create all these scenarios including one where he takes the whole city hostage.

I find myself back at home already in bed now, the light is on outside meaning Loki is probably still up. I'm finding it kind of difficult to go to sleep and next thing I know I'm opening my eyes to the sound of birds chirping outside and the banging alarm sound to my right.

Already anticipating it's going to be a bad day I wake up and step outside to see Loki before he leaves. "Hey Loki..." and he's already gone...that wasn't one of my scenarios.

His Pov:

I think I've been up all night, I keep thinking over this one story I read at Auroras library, something about a fallen child from the heavens trying to get back through this blue orb thing. Asgard has this one place with a large window that sees into the human world, I think that's where it's supposed to be located. I wonder if I should wait for Aurora but I feel like I've caused enough disruption in her life.

I know what I am going to do when I get there. I'm starting with those people who took me, all the people who supported them... I'll have them turn on each other. And my family, I will give them a great seat and they will do what they do best, they will watch...watch as I crumble their society and burn their loyalties to ashes.

Her Pov:

After seeing Loki left I went to go to class, it all seemed a little futile now. How am I meant to listen to this professor rambling on about something that I swear has nothing related to my degree.

"Hey you okay.." Juliet nudges my side and I smile and nod at her. I don't think she's concentrating on the lecture either, she's too busy texting with Elias.

Oh my god I can't understand this, that's it i'm declaring a mental health day.

"Ah Juliet..I don't think I'm feeling well so I'm going to leave a little early."

"Yeah no problem ill see you next week,"

"Yeah see you then, say hi to Elias for me" I laugh.

The way home is kind of a blur. I just can't wait to go back to bed and sleep. Hopefully tomorrow I can wake up without Loki being the first thing I think of. I open my door and start walking to my long awaited bedroom, wait! "Loki?" Oh my god, what happened to him, his face...he has cuts all over his body and his face, he's bleeding, all I can see is the blood and I fear the more I look at him the more things I can see, "Loki what happened, who did this to you, Oh my god..are you okay!"

I start to feel really anxious. He looks like he's in so much pain, how did this happen, my throat starts to tighten and my eyes start to water at the thought of what happened.

His pov:

I make my way up to our apartment knowing Aurora is still at university this time, I don't want her to see me like this but I have nowhere else to go.

"Oh hey Aurora, how have you been,"

"Me! What happened to you, you were only gone for 6 hours!"

"I found out about this portal thing between our worlds, I think I just forgot about one key detail"

She stares at me concerned "How does that explain your face Loki!"

"You have to be pure Asgardian for the portal to work and I.." It takes her a moment to understand and when she does she stays quiet. "Yeah...what's better is if you're not, the portal's defense mechanism activates and really reminds me how much I hate that place", I let out a small chuckle.

"Loki..." she whispers. "Loki are you okay," Oh..I'm not sure, my whole plan, this whole time I've been in this realm and I am back to nothing. I look into her eyes and smile, I shouldn't bring my pain onto her "Of course I am, I'm Loki,"

"I know you are, but that doesn't mean you are invincible, you're allowed to...It doesn't make you weak Loki," i'm silent at her words, a strange sense of comfort even though I don't believe her, It's nice to have someone who doesn't see me as a monster.

"I made some food for you, it's on the counter,"

She smiles slightly "Thanks Loki, shall we eat then..." I nod as we dish our food, she grabs a small spoonful and starts to eat. "Do you want some more?" I ask.

"Oh no but thank you Loki for making this."
