[sam]

Sam groaned to herself as she struggled to grab a paint roller on the top shelf in her garage.

She wasn't super short, but she also wasn't the tallest girl. Finally after jumping up a couple of times she successfully grabbed the paint roller and grabbed the can of paint she needed.

Her father had requested her to help paint their house.

Sam didn't really want to spend her Sunday painting her house, but in the end she didn't have much better to do.

She huffed out loud as she set everything up for painting. She was only painting the sides of the house since she wasn't really suited to paint the rest of the house herself.

Grabbing some headphones out of her pocket, she plugged them into her phone before putting on her favourite playlist.

Sam hummed along to the song as she rolled her first line of paint onto her house, her hips swaying the slightest bit to the music.

After a few minutes of painting she realized she would need a drink, since it was surprisingly hot for a day in May.

Running into her kitchen she quickly gabbed a bottle of water before returning to her setup outside again.

"How's the painting going?" Sam's father asked, making her jump the slightest when he spoke.

"It's going fine. Boring as hell though." She rolled her eyes, dipping her roller into the tray of paint on the ground.

"It's not that boring." Her father protested.

"Yeah, says the guy who isn't doing it." Sam chuckled, rolling her brush onto the wall up and down.

"Have fun." He laughed before heading back inside. Sam rolled her eyes before pressing play on a random song in her playlist, popping both headphones into her ears.

She continued to paint for a few more minutes until she was interrupted by someone.

"Dad! I'm a little busy here." Sam snapped before facing the person.

"Dad? Well I'm not really into that but, Ashton is." Luke smirked, his hands diving into his back pockets.

"You scared me you little bitch." She grunted at him before diverting her attention to the barely painted house.

"That was kind of the point."

"Really? No shit, Hemmings."

"You always call me Hemmings but I don't have your last name to call you by." He fake pouted.

"Sam Smith." She deadpanned.

"Wait, really?" Luke asked innocently.

"No you idiot! Do you not understand sarcasm?" Sam laughed, clutching her stomach whilst she laughed at his naiveness.

"You seemed serious." He muttered to himself, scratching the back of his neck awkwardly.

Sam continued to paint the house herself, but Luke had other ideas.

"Let's paint the house together." Luke suggested, picking up a spare brush and dipping it in some paint.

"Who said I wanted to spend time with you?" Sam groaned, looking up at him through the hair falling in front of her face.

He shook his head, chucking at her as he pushed the stray piece of hair out of her face, "Princess, you like it a lot more than you'll ever admit to me."
