[sam]

"You know, I hate a lot of things about you but you know what I hate most?" Sam inquired as her and Luke walked home from school together, they had yet another school project together.

He chuckled, "I guess?"

"I hate that when I go out in public with you, we always are wearing the same jeans." She glanced down at his legs for a moment.

"That's not my problem." Luke rolled his eyes.

"What guy wears woman's jeans?"

"These are not woman's jeans." He gasped and she immediately shook her head.

Sam grabbed the loop on the back of his pants and pulled him closer to her, causing him to stumble back, she pulled on the loop a little more until it revealed the label of his jeans.

Once she let go he stumbled forward again, looking rather shocked at her action.

"See, you are wearing woman's jeans." She laughed as they continued to walk. Luke groaned as she had caught him.

"They fit better alright?" He mumbled, awkwardly fiddling with the strap on his backpack.

"Oh sure they do." Sam rolled her eyes playfully at him.

"They do! Ask Ashton or Michael." He defended.

A roll of the eyes as given as a response by Sam. They walked a few minutes more until they reached Luke's house. They both took off their shoes and said a quick hello to Liz before walking up the stairs to Luke's bedroom.

As they walked into the hall, she noticed something on the wall that seemed interesting.

"Is that your older brother? He looks very familiar." Sam said, leaning closer to the picture to get a better look.

"Yeah uh, it is. Let's get to the project now yeah?" Luke stuttered his words, he seemed awfully strange about the subject of his brother. He grabbed her wrist to pull away from the picture.

"Where are your brothers?" She asked, still curious about the boy on the wall who looked all too familiar.

"I told you this before, they're off at uni." He said dryly, tossing his bag onto his messy bed.

Sam opened her mouth to fire off another question but closed it as she realized this would only make Luke more aggravated, and she didn't want to fight with him today.

"So, let's get started."

A few hours after working on their project, Sam headed home to return to an empty home yet again. Her father was returning tomorrow and she was excited that she wouldn't be alone anymore, at least for a little while.

She always knew that no matter how much she wanted him to stay around more often, the job he had just wouldn't let him do that.

Sam grabbed her laptop and started to type in the search bar, but she was disrupted by her phone ringing. Her brows furrowed at the caller ID but she picked up soon enough.

"Michael?" Sam asked, glancing out her window as he spoke.

"Hi, yeah it's Michael. Anyway, I was wondering if you could help Ashton and I with something?" He asked, seeming anxious as he spoke over the phone.

"Depends on what it is." She chuckled softly, playing with the loose treads from the hole in her jeans.

"Ashton and I wrote a song for our band, and I was wondering if we could have your opinion?" Michael asked.
