[luke]

He sighed as he looked at himself in the mirror, slightly frowning at his bed head and dark under eye circles.

He didn't sleep all the much after a conversation with someone that put him out of sorts.

Shaking his head he walked away from the mirror and went back in his bedroom to get dressed for the day. Suddenly his phone started to buzz on his bed as he was putting his shirt on.

"Michael? What do you want?" Luke asked, struggling to put on his pants while he tried holding the phone to his ear.

"I was wondering if you wanted a ride to school." Asked Michael.

"Yeah, sure. Thanks mate." He smiled. The gesture was random, but it was nice that Michael offered to drive him since Luke had ran out of gas in his car.

He had no money to fill up his car with gas again and his Mum wasn't going to cough up the money for gas unfortunately.

Luke really needed a job.

"I'll see you in 30?"

"Sounds good." He smiled, then ending the call. He threw his phone down on his white bed sheets and headed downstairs for some quick breakfast.

"Good morning sweetheart." Liz smiled, patting Luke on the back.

"Morning Mum." Luke have her a half smile as he poured some milk into a bowl. He took his bowl of cereal and sat down at the table, then devouring his food.

"You look awfully tired, are you feeling ill?" Liz asked, touching his forehead to check if he was too warm.

Luke pushed her hand away and chuckled at her stereotypical motherly actions, "I'm not ill, Mum."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes, I'm fine." He said, rolling his eyes at her. A brief silence fell between the mother and son, but was quickly broken by Liz.

"Have you spoken to Jack recently?" His Mum asked, sipping on her coffee.

He suspiciously looked up at her and slowly shook his head.

"Haven't spoken to him in ages." Luke lied, rubbing his neck nervously.

"Good, just wondering." Liz nodded, stirring an extra packet of sugar into her cup as it was too rich for her taste.

"Right. I'm going to go get ready now." He said quickly, dumping his bowl into the sink and pressing a quick kiss to her cheek.

Liz oddly looked at him as he raced up the stairs but she shook it off, Luke always acted weird when Jack was being spoken about, but she never seemed to question it too much-which maybe she should.

Luke grabbed his phone and noticed he had a text from Michael saying that he was on his way.

Minutes later Michael had arrived, honking obnoxiously outside Luke's house. He rolled his eyes and slipped on his hoodie and headed out the door.

"Mate!" Michael exclaimed happily as Luke entered his car. He gave him a half smile and buckled up his seatbelt.

"Hey, why did you change the song?" Luke frowned as Michael had skipped a The 1975 song.

"Dunno. Sorry." He shrugged and put the song back on. Luke nodded at him and smiled happily as they sped down the streets.

"And you're the only thing that's goin' on in my mind.." Luke hummed along to the song, tapping his hand against his thigh to the beat of the song.
