[sam]

"Sam! Oh my God, there you are." Kat said and pulled Sam into a huge hug.

Sam smiled brightly at Kat as they pulled away from their brief embrace. Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed Luke standing next to her, seeming discomforted.

"Where have you been?" Kat asked, raising her voice so she could be heard over the loud music.

"I've been around, just busy." Sam dismissed, then turning her attention to Luke.

"Luke, are you okay?" She asked, placing her hand on is shoulder. He almost flinched at the contact. She was never very touchy with him, unless she was slapping or pushing him away from her.

He paused for a moment before replying with a deep breath, "Yeah I'm good, just a weird night."

Sam gave him an unsure look, but didn't press further.

"You know what, I'll give you guys some alone time. Sam, find me later so we can talk." Kat said with a smile, brushing her hand on Sam's shoulder as she walked past them and down the stairs.

Silence fell between the pair as they were left alone. It suddenly felt so quite now that they were alone.

"So..." Sam finally said something to break the awkward silence upon them.

"I've missed you." Luke blurted out. She paused for a moment.

"You've already said that." Sam chuckled softly, looking up into his eyes that were intently staring down at her

"I know, but I wanted to tell you again. It was more than just missing you. I missed seeing you everyday in the halls or hanging out with you. I missed seeing your smile that makes my heart so stupid shit. I missed the way you make me feel when you're around me. I know it hasn't even been that long since I last saw you, but two weeks was far too long without you, Sam." Luke started to ramble as he confessed his feelings for her.

Sam paused for a moment, feeling bewildered at the words he spoke to her. Luke was never someone to express himself this way about just about anything. She felt her heart flutter in her chest as she felt his thumb swipe across her bottom lip.

"And you know what I've missed most of all?" He said slowly, not breaking eye contact with her.

"What?" She questioned, not being able to form a better answer.

"These lips." He said and his focus switched to her lips.

Sam felt her breath hitch slightly in her throat as she felt his finger against her lips again. She felt him leaning closer to her, his hot breath mixed with alcohol and mint fanning her face.

She couldn't believe how great his breath smelt all the time. How was that even possible? She questioned in her mind. Her heart started to thump as she felt his lips brush against hers.

She wondered why she felt so nervous. They had kissed plenty of times before.

Feeling her nerves getting the best of her, she opened her mouth to speak.

"I like you so much." Sam whispered against his lips, barely at an audible level. She felt slightly embarrassed that she said that, so she ducked her head into his chest.

"What?" Luke asked softly, looking down at her head against his chest.

"I like you so much, it kind of freaks me out actually. But I have finally come to terms with the fact that I like you, a lot." She let out a soft shaky breath.
