The only light in the kitchen was candles. Candles lighting up the room. Giving it romantic evening feels for the only people inside the house. The table, filled with delicious food with chicken, fish, white rice, gravy and vegetables. Gary made it all by himself while Jen was busy cleaning up the rooms upstairs, as well as Danny's.
"Hey don't move my hands yet." This is a surprise Gary have been holding for some time. Wanting this evening to be the best for her.
"Oh come on, you been hiding my eyes for too long now."
"How can it be too long, it wasn't even that long." Approaching where the food is. Jen can smell it. Finding it really good. The smell. Before Gary lets go of her eyes, letting her open it.
Jen looking at the dishes on the table. It's amazing. Jen looks at Gary, unsure on what to say next. It's really impressive."While you were busy with you cleaning duties, I decided to do this while we continue waiting for your brother and his friends." Jen smiles at Gary.
"This is the most beautiful thing you have ever done for me." Gary smiles before telling her they should go to the table now. Don't want the food to get cold.
A true gentleman, he moves her chair behind, letting her sit on it before moving the chair forward to her plate, gently. Before remaining himself, standing, getting her the food before his. Cutting bits of the chicken before putting it on Jen's plate, same with his own which is next to her. Knowing Jen loves eating the chicken with her rice, like her brother, puts it on her plate. Himself, he puts chicken, fish and vegetables on his plates. He pours gravy on all of their foods.
Now their food is ready to serve, he sits on his chair. Bon Appetit. They eat their foods. Passionately, lovingly. Jen, chewing on the food, slowly, appreciating its taste before swallowing it.
"This is amazing. How are you able to do that?" Gary finishes swallowing the food on his mouth.
"Like I said to your brother, my specialty." He laughs. She laughs as well.
"Well mister, you 'specialty' has exceeded my expectations." He smiles. Happy to hear that. They both continue to eat their foods. The food portion in the table isn't big. Knowing they wouldn't eat all of the food in the table but leave some for Danny to have. Even give some of them to Amy and Joe for takeaway. It's something the teenagers may not be able to resist.
"I wished my brother was here for this." Gary agrees. He finishes half of the food on his plate. But doesn't finish. He looks at Jen who continues to eat the food from her plate.
Interrupting her from her meal. "How was it? Taking care of your brother, all by yourself." Jen hears what he has just said. She doesn't reply immediately. She hesitates for a bit. An experience she had to undertake after her and Danny's parents have passed away when he was really young and immediately taking responsibility of him.
"It's a big responsibility I had to handle. Only something my parents are good at. But... I was still young. Really young and at the time, it was hard. Even though my family's other friends helped me took care of him, there are times I would need to be there for him. And also that I need him too." Tears starts to come out of her eyes. It's a big, emotional topic for Jen. Gary immediately touches Jen's hand.
"I understand. Without your parents, there are times you needed someone in your life, to be there for you, to give you love, affection. And then there was Danny. Who really wanted you to take care of him no matter what. But think about, what brought Danny into your life was because of your mom and dad. If your parents wouldn't be able to make it, Danny would be there for you. I even saw how he took care of you and the questions he asked about you when we started talking. He's a good brother and you should appreciate that you had him in your life." Jen cries. Emotional. Gary gives her a hug. She hugs him back. Gary would give her a kiss at the top her head.
