"So, Tom was Alex?" Confused over what he has just heard, over everything Alex has told him. More of the fact that he was one of the first people to live in this house.
Knowing Danny doesn't believe him. It's not true. How could it be true for him. This cannot be right. "I'm sorry kid. It was true. The phone call I had with my granddaughter... was the last time I ever spoke to her. After that, I would never hear from her again." Silence coming all across the room. Joe, sleeping on his chair, snoring a bit loudly. Causing Danny and Amy to become really annoyed over it.
"Your friend is a loud sleeper." Looking at him once more.
"Tell me about it." Alex and Howard, giving them a small laugh. A bit funny for them.
"So what happened, after your granddaughter's last phone call?" Not wanting to talk more about this. It's too much for him to bare. A memory he rather leave in the past. All to himself. No one needs to learn more about it. No need to speak it. The curiosity of Danny and now Howard, going into him. Knowing they would want to learn more about it.
"After that..."
His granddaughter hasn't been home for hours. Worried, thinking about what she has said over the call, grabs his car keys. Finding his jacket before equipping it. All ready, comes out of the door. Forgetting to alarm the house, all he cares about is this one thought in his mind, this one worry. Inside the car, turning on the engine, he drives off. In the middle of the night. Picking his phone from his left hand. Calling her number. "Come on please!! Pick up! Pick up! PICK UP!!" He's going too fast on the road. Thankfully not bumping into anyone.
No answer from the other end of the call. Typing in the number while on the wheel, a simple 999. Waiting for the call to pick up. Hoping anyone in the department to answer the call from him. "999, state your emergency."
"Yes hi." He explains everything to the person from the other end of the call in the middle of the panic as he continues driving straight forward. Stopping at stop lights, avoiding to get himself in trouble.
The call done, checking up on his map. Only 2 minutes away. Almost there. Need to find a safe place to park. Hopefully in front of the house. To get back to his car straight away. Driving in a hurry, before his eyes were able to focus its attention onto the house.
Seeing it, driving straight onto it, parking his car in front of it. The only available light left for him, noticing the front gate is opened. Been opened for hours. No one has closed the gate. Immediately turning off the car's engine, he gets out. Walking straight to the front gate, giving it a strong push, causing the gate to pick back with strong impact.
Running towards the front door. Putting his hand onto the knob, pushing it down, opening it. It doesn't open. The door is locked and has been. Ever since Max locked the door. Knocking on the door, continuously ringing the doorbell, hoping someone would answer. His panic, his worries, his fear, his anxiety, it's too much for him, before he starts to get desperate. No one is going to answer the door, no one is going to open the door, let him inside.
Pushing the door. Once, twice, no impact. The push becomes more hard, more strong, more violent. A strong door the house has. Moving himself back, he raises his leg and hits the door. Breaking the lock and the door to move forwards, hitting the wall near to it.
Now inside, he looks around. Really dark all around. Turning on the lights of the house. Not opening. Flicking it, on and off. No light comes out of it. Unsure what to expect inside, grabs his phone from his pocket. Using the flashlight from there. Looking around the whole house, he sees nothing. Living room first, no one inside, other than the teddy bear and packs of flowers left on the floor. Alex knew Max has a cute crush on his granddaughter. Now in the future, will probably regret what he has just thought.
