Father: Alistair McKenzie. (a vampire)

Mother: Laila McKenzie. (Cherubim class angel in permanent human form.)

Personality.

Cassiel is a sweet and kind young man. Those who know him say he has angel's blood and soul.  Due to his quick aging he has the mind and maturity of a grown adult, but still retains his childlike wonder and a bit of naivety. He is eager to learn about the world outside his home. For all his life he has lived on his parents' farmstead between the Adirondack mountains and Saratoga Springs.

He is friendly, sociable, and eager to meet new people. Though he does not get the chance to have many friends because of his parents' protectiveness. His friends include the barnyard animals (the goats, sheep, chickens, and two cart horses)and Mina, an earthly angel who often visits him. Despite his age and not seeing the world he is very knowledgeable of it. All who meet him say he's an old soul.

Facts:

Cassiel is the first ever vampire and angel hybrid.

He is the third Nephilim born to an angel mother but the first one who isn't an offspring of Zaharial.

Because of his vampiric heritage and appearance. Cassiel's parents initially kept him secluded on the farmstead out of fear for his safety until Mina strongly warned that sheltering their child did him more harm in the long run. She suggested having Cassiel accompany his father into town for his for two reasons; Cassiel would be exposed to the outside world, and the humans would get used to his presence, realizing he's no danger.

Cassiel works with his father at night to chop down trees for wood, and carry it  into town to sell.  The townspeople see him as harmless, albeit still cautious of him. Alistair notes how the young ladies look at his son. Cassiel shows no interest in them. "I feel as if I'm meant for someone else."

Cassiel can talk to animals thanks to his cherubim  heritage. He communicates to them through telepathy.

Cassiel's only friend who isn't an animal is Mina, an earthly angel he's known since birth. Mina often visits the family to check on him. Cassiel always looks forward to them because she plays games with him and tells him the goings on in the outside world. In reality her visits are meant to determine if Cassiel is a danger. She was employed by the Consul of the Colonies to monitor the Nephilim dhampir's growth and alert them if there are concerns. Cass's parents know this and are nervous about each visit. 

Thankfully, Cassiel proved himself as no threat, and is a genuine kind individual. Mina has grown fond of him, but still warns his parents that things might change during puberty, when his hormones stir making his vampire traits start up.

Laila, Cassiel's mother, and Amalie have spoken through the years. Laila often confides with Amalie about having a vampiric son.  One instance was when Cassiel hissed baring his fangs when he was helping his father clean the barn and supplies fell off the shelf, making a loud noise. Laila contacted Amalie crying Amalie kindly responded it was just him being startled. Vampires hiss when they're startled like cats do. It doesn't mean he's changed his personality

"But in that moment he resembled a vampire. That's what the world will see." She's beside herself that her sweet natured son will be condemned and shunned because of his vampire heritage. Amalie reassured there will be people who will accept him for who he is, and those are the ones who matter and are worth keeping. She mentions how Emma made many friends and comrades through the years. "The world saw her as vampiric, but Washington saw her as his greatest ally ." 

Cassiel is absolutely smitten with Emma. He grew to adore her after hearing stories about her for years. He's absolutely thrilled she's coming to see him all the way from France. Truth be told, he feels as if he's always known her.
