Valence and his brother Lawrence were adopted into Michelle and Jackson Demi's family. They had a daughter already named Ainslie, who they ended up being older then.
Valence's life was alright, as far as they go. His biological mom had left and his biological dad died short after, but his adoptive parents were very nice. It was his foster parents he had before him and his brother were adopted that were the problem. Either they couldn't handle them, weren't ready, or just weren't fit to be parents.
They were a close family, their adoptive family always trying to make Valence and Lawrence feel like they belonged, though they might've tried a little too hard, in the long run. The effort was still appreciated though.
Then Lawrence died due to being in the wrong place at the wrong time, and Valence kind of grew distant from everyone, except Ainslie who tried very hard to keep him going and good.
Now it's pretty much just the two of them, though his adoptive parents are still there he's very distant from them but sticks with Ainslie and cares a lot about her.
Does con people & steal though for fun because due to previously being orphaned, he was used to doing it and never really grew out of the habit.
